Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Bryson Allen-Williams: I am training in Nashville, Tennessee.
Alex Khvatov: When is your Pro Day?
Bryson Allen-Williams: March 21st.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Bryson Allen-Williams: I am from Atlanta. I graduated from high school in 2014. I was a top 100 prospect. I was the sixth ranked LB in the nation. I was an All-American coming out of high school. My top three were Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose South Carolina?
Bryson Allen-Williams: South Carolina dominated for three years before I got there. Coach Spurrier was there at the time. Before I came to my high school, we never made the playoffs. Then we became one of the powerhouses in Georgia. I helped make a change. I wanted to do the same thing in college. I wanted to start a legacy at South Carolina. I wanted to play my freshman year. I thought that I would be a three and done player.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Bryson Allen-Williams: I play with fanatical effort and quickness. Versatility is big for me. I can rush the passer and hold up against the run. I love to hit. I am a solid special teams’ player. I am good in coverage. I can move.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Work on my straight-line speed and become a more secure tackler. Be more under control with my movements and play with better pad level.
Alex Khvatov: Describe your overall career.
Bryson Allen-Williams: I loved the coaches at South Carolina. The way we attacked the game. Will Muschamp teaches you how to be a man. I played early. We went 7-6 my first year and then 3-9 the next year. Spurrier retired. I had thoughts of transferring. Commitment is a major thing to me. I dedicated myself to the program. Will Muschamp changed my career. He molded me into the person I am today. I started three games as a true freshman. In 2016, I played ILB. I had 80 tackles, three INT’s and a couple of sacks. The next year, I moved to OLB. I made a lot of plays and got injured. I tore my left labrum. I came back. I played OLB my senior year again. I was having a big season. I rolled my ankle against Ole Miss. I had surgery on the ankle. I was rehabbing and wanted to come back. I came back and played in the bowl game. I wanted to have that one last game. Our coaching staff develops players. We faced a lot of adversity this year. Coach Muschamp has done a great job.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Bryson Allen-Williams: We went through a coaching change. It got to the point where I wanted to help Muschamp build the program up again. I believe that we did. The program is headed in the right direction.
Alex Khvatov: What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?
Bryson Allen-Williams: My stepbrother played at Auburn and he wanted to transfer. He eventually went to Ohio State. Auburn blocked him from transferring. It made him go to JUCO. The school doesn’t have a right to block the transfer. I helped transform the new transfer rule. I was a vice chairman on the council. I helped change the game. I was in Dallas last year. They had commissioners from all power 5 conferences there. They had seven student athletes, I was one of them. The new transfer portal started, and I was a part of it.
Alex Khvatov: What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Effort and tenacity, fanatical effort, football is always important. My dad played in the league, always been around football. Fun to play defense. Will Muschamp challenge you and reach your potential, never held back, never sugarcoact. What his standard was, made sure seniors were in control what we want out of the team.
Alex Khvatov: Your father played in the league. Tell me about his career.
Bryson Allen-Williams: His name is George Williams. He played for the Giants for three years. He played DE and DT. John Fox was his defensive coordinator. Jim Fassel was his head coach. My dad played in the Super Bowl in his last season. Then he played in the Arena League in San Jose for seven years. He played at NC State with Torry Holt.
Alex Khvatov: What is it like being invited to the Scouting Combine in Indy?
Bryson Allen-Williams: It is huge. It is everything that I dreamed of. Seeing some of the people going there. It is one of those opportunities that I need. Being injured the past two seasons hurt me. I wasn’t invited to the bigger all-star games. I will be one of the more versatile players there. I can rush the passer, use my speed, lateral quickness and I can cover. I will represent myself the right way.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your overall experience at the Tropical Bowl in Daytona Beach, FL?
Bryson Allen-Williams: I didn’t know what to expect. I haven’t heard anything about it. The guy that ran the organization was great. It was a grind. I didn’t expect any handouts. It was an opportunity. I wanted to take advantage of every play and every rep. I talked to scouts. They showed interest in me. I talked to every team except for four or five teams. I was able to show what I could do. I didn’t play off the ball for two years. ILB is the position moving forward for me. In the middle of the defense, you make the calls. It is an opportunity to run inside and out. I was able to show my sideline-to-sideline speed and play with tremendous effort.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Bryson Allen-Williams: I just love football. I watch everybody.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Kwon Alexander and Deion Jones. Bruce Irvin also came from Atlanta.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a LB?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Definitely intelligence. You are playing near the line of scrimmage. You have to be versatile. You have to blitz, cover the TE’s and RB’s and defend the run.
Alex Khvatov: Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the offense?
Bryson Allen-Williams: I look at the formation first and foremost and then the alignment. I look at the stance of the O-linemen. I read through the triangle, from the guard to the QB and RB. The little nuances, Coach Peterson played in the league for 14 years. He taught me eye discipline and trusting my keys.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Javon Kinlaw, Keir Tomas, Bryan Edwards, T.J. Brunson, Jake Bentley and Rico Dowdle. Next year’s team should be really good.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your teammate WR Deebo Samuel?
Bryson Allen-Williams: He is my guy. He plays very physical for a WR. He has speed and catches the ball well. After he catches it, he turns into a RB. I am excited to see his potential. He grinded his way to the top. When he came in, he was underrated. He worked hard and see where he is today.
Alex Khvatov: Who was the toughest team to play in the SEC?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Kentucky was a battle for us every year. The toughest team was Florida from a talent wise perspective. They always had a tough team. Georgia is also up there.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the toughest player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Todd Gurley my freshman year. We beat them that year. Chubb and Michel were also very good.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Bryson Allen-Williams: The grind. Being able to release your aggression somewhere. It is the only place I know where I can legally hit someone.
Alex Khvatov: What is your definition of a leader?
Bryson Allen-Williams: Somebody who leads by example. Someone who is level-headed, dependable and consistent.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
