Colorado State Pro Day

Preston Williams had an okay day.  He ran a 4.59 40-yard dash, which is good for a guy who measured at 6’4 and 210.  His vertical jump was 31.5 and his broad jump was 9.8.  You could feel in the room that scouts were disappointed with his jumping.  His 3-cone time was 7.03 and his short shuttle times were 4.22 and 4.19.

There was a situation where he looked like he was telling a scout that he could jump high, and I could tell by the scout’s reaction that he was disappointed.  I also saw on the vertical jump when Williams lined his hand up that his wrist looked crooked and he was hiding an injury.

In the drills, Williams showed some good things and some bad things.  He had a drop, but also had a nice toe drag catch.  I wanted to see Preston Williams cut better on a crossing route, but he did look better on fly routes.

Olabisi Johnson did not participate in the measurements, but did perform in the drills.  He looks really good getting in and out of his breaks.  He also had a nice catch on a fly route, which drew a clap from the crowd.

TJ Roundtree had the best day of the offensive linemen.  He ran a slow 5.64 40-yard dash.  He put up 23 reps on the bench, which was good to see but expected from a lineman.  His vertical jump was 31 inches and his broad jump was 7.11.  His 3-cone was 8.39 and his short shuttle was 6.63.  I give him credit for going through with all the measurements.

Josh Watson was Colorado State’s winner at the Pro Day.  He looked great in the linebacker drills and showed he can move well.  His 40-yard dash was 4.53 and 4.59.  He did 20 reps on the bench. His vertical jump was 36.5 inches and his broad jump was 9.8 feet.  His three-cone was 7.03 and his short shuttles were 4.22 and 4.19.  This pro day got scouts inquiring about his tape.

CB V.J. Banks didn’t do all the drills, but did have a 32.5-inch vertical and a 7.25 3-cone.  His short shuttle was a 4.57.

The quarterback, K.J. Carta-Samuels, ran a 4.75 and 4.84 40 with a 35-inch vertical and a 9.8-foot broad jump.  His short shuttle was also a 4.90. That shows athleticism for a quarterback.

OL Tyler Bjorklund ran a 5.12 and a 5.47 40-yard dash.  He did 24 reps on the bench.  His vertical jump was 28 inches and his broad jump was 10 feet.  He also had a 5.08 short shuttle.

K Wyatt Bryan did do the position drills where he kicked field goals.

Jordan Fogal, a safety, had a 36.5-inch vertical and a 4.18 short shuttle.

Izzy Matthews, the running back, had a 4.75 and 4.70 40-yard dash.  He also had a 36.5-inch vertical and a 9.4-foot broad jump.  His 3-cone time was 7.09.

Tre Thomas, the other linebacker, ran a 4.76 40 and did 25 reps on the bench.  His vertical jump was 34.5 inches.
