Rick Gamboa
Linebacker
Colorado
Ed Hunt: How did you feel out there during your Pro Day?
Rick Gamboa: I felt good. You know I’ve been working hard the past two and a half months. This is probably the best shape I have even been in. Finally, just get to worry about football and not worry about the stress of school and the stress of hitting people every day with pads. My body feels good. I feel in the best shape as far as my weight, strength and everything.
Ed Hunt: What positions have you played on special teams?
Rick Gamboa: I’ve played on punt and kickoff units. I’ve played on all of them, but I’ve never actually got on the field in games. I was just more of a backup in situations. I think the only one I got on was hands team a couple times.
Ed Hunt: How many years did you start at Colorado?
Rick Gamboa: I started all four years.
Ed Hunt: Would you say you bring a lot of experience to an NFL training camp?
Rick Gamboa: Oh definitely. I am very intellectual when it comes to football. I understand everything that an offense is trying to do. I try to understand everything as a defense and just knowing those things. I’m not the most physical or dominant human being on the field, but I understand where I got to be. I understand what the offense is trying to do. My football IQ definitely helps me a lot.
Ed Hunt: What are you working on between now and the draft?
Rick Gamboa: Keep getting stronger and get into more conditioning. Get ready for a rookie minicamp that I could be invited to.
