RB Bruce Anderson (North Dakota State) Interview

Bruce Anderson
Running Back
North Dakota State

Ed Hunt:  What are your measurements? (Height, weight and 40 time)

Bruce Anderson:  I’m 6’0, 210 pounds and run a 4.48.

Ed Hunt:  I noticed you are a blocker.  Do you think you could play a little fullback situationally?

Bruce Anderson:  Situationally, yes.  It is something I could definitely do.

Ed Hunt:  Describe your overall experience at the Senior Bowl.

Bruce Anderson:  It was wonderful.  I could compete with the best of the best and showcase my talents.

Ed Hunt:  What is the biggest thing you can take away from the Senior Bowl?

Bruce Anderson:  The biggest thing is just the competition level.  It made me that much better I would say.

Ed Hunt:  Who is the best player you have faced at the Senior Bowl?

Bruce Anderson:  There were a bunch of good linebackers and d-lineman.  I don’t know their names.

Ed Hunt:  Coming out of high school, which schools showed interest in you?

Bruce Anderson:  A bunch of different schools.  It was Army, Navy and Air Force.  I was also offered to be a preferred walk-on at USF and Duke.

Ed Hunt:  What made you ultimately choose North Dakota State?

Bruce Anderson:  Ultimately the tradition.  The coaching staff showed me how to be successful.  I was able to meet a bunch of great guys on my visit.

Ed Hunt:  What are your strengths?

Bruce Anderson:  Versatility.  I can run inside and outside zone, play special teams, kickoff, kickoff return and pass protection.

Ed Hunt:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Bruce Anderson:  Just technique stuff with pass protection and refining some small things to make me that much better.

Ed Hunt:  Describe your overall career.

Bruce Anderson:  I think it was very productive.  It was game-changing.  I played special teams.  Explosive, dynamic and game-changing.

Ed Hunt:  What is the highlight of your career at this point?

Bruce Anderson:  Just being able to win three national championships and just be in a great program.  It wasn’t defined by one single game.

Ed Hunt:  I noticed you are a patient runner.  How did you acquire this skill?

Bruce Anderson:  That is something you develop through repetitions.  I learned to develop it throughout the year.  It started in high school.

Ed Hunt:  What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?

Bruce Anderson:  What it takes to be successful.  How to be a better teammate, leader and football player.

Ed Hunt:  Tell me about playing with Carson Wentz.

Bruce Anderson:  I didn’t play much with Carson Wentz.  It was something special.  He was a game-changing player.  He was a tremendous athlete.

Ed Hunt:  Is there a role you have played on special teams thus far in your career?

Bruce Anderson:  Kick returner and every position, but kicker on kickoffs.  On punts, I played gunner and in tackle.

Ed Hunt:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Bruce Anderson:  I don’t have a favorite NFL team.

Ed Hunt:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Bruce Anderson:  I have a bunch of different guys: Bo Jackson, Walter Payton, Todd Gurley and Alvin Kamara.

Ed Hunt:  What’s the most important trait for a running back?

Bruce Anderson:  I would have to say vision.  You have to have that feel for where the hole is going to be.

Ed Hunt:  Before the ball is snapped, what tendencies are you looking for in that defense?

Bruce Anderson:  I look for safety rotation.  I look at linebackers.  If they are antsy then I look for the blitz.  I look if there is a line of scrimmage blitzer.  Are they a blitzer or are they rotated to a certain coverage?

Ed Hunt:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Bruce Anderson:  Adam Cofield, Trey Lance, Mike Tutsie, Joshua Hayes and Dom Davis.

Ed Hunt:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Bruce Anderson:  Just what it brings.  It brings a lot of close friends and competition during close games.

Ed Hunt:  Who is your biggest role model and why?

Bruce Anderson:  I have two.  My mother and father.  Everything they sacrificed.  Just leading by example.  What I learned from them, I can bring to my adulthood.

Ed Hunt:  What is your definition of a leader?

Bruce Anderson:  Somebody that is doing the right thing in all phases of their life.

Ed Hunt:  What do you want to do with your life after football?

Bruce Anderson:  I want to own my own business.  I have my major in psychology.  I want to use my major in psychology to help people.

Ed Hunt:  What five words best describe you?

Bruce Anderson:  Hard-working, reliable, dynamic, explosive and versatile.

Ed Hunt:  Who will win the Super Bowl next year?

Bruce Anderson:  That’s an impossible question to answer.  I have to wait until the first few games shake out.

Ed Hunt:  Do you have any pre-draft visits scheduled with any teams?

Bruce Anderson:  No, not yet.
