James Louison

LIU Post

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

James Louison:  6’3 ½, 305 right now and a 5.2.  I had a 1.79 10-yard split when they timed me.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

James Louison:  I am training at Revolution Athletics in Bohemia, NY.  It is in Long Island.  I have been there since February.  I was training on my own before.

Alex Khvatov:  When is your Pro Day?

James Louison:  I have no pro day.  I have a combine on May 11th where we will do the testing.  It will be in Maryland.  They will send out the results to all of the leagues.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

James Louison:  I was under recruited.  I had a couple of schools that liked my film.  My high school coach knew coach Hughes from LIU Post.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose LIU Post?

James Louison:  Coach Hughes liked my film and offered me a scholarship.  It was the only scholarship that I received.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

James Louison:  I am strong physically.  I did 31 reps on the bench over the summer.  I have good feet.  I am a tough kid.  When I get my hands on, I lock up pretty well.  I am good in pass pro.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

James Louison:  Running technique.  I am working on my form.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career.

James Louison:  I redshirted my first year, and we won the championship that year.  During my redshirt freshman year, I started the last four games at LG.  As a redshirt sophomore, I started the whole season.  We won the championship and went 12-0.  We lost to Shepherd in the playoffs.  I was first team all-conference and second team all-region.  I also wrestled the first three years in college and made the all-region my first two years.  I got hurt in wrestling and tore my muscle.  I had Lisfranc surgery my junior year.  I was recovering from that injury during my junior year.  I played hurt the whole season.  We went 8-2, and I made second team all-conference.  We went 11-0 my senior year and won the championship again.  We lost in the playoffs in the first round.  I made first team all-conference.  Our school is moving from D-II to the NEC conference.  It is a huge step for the program to be moving to D-I.  We had 19 seniors that graduated.  It is a big loss for next year.  But we have promising talent coming back

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

James Louison:  Winning the championship my redshirt sophomore year.  I have never won the championship before.  Winning another championship my senior year.  This is the best senior class that we have had at the school.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?

James Louison:  Getting All-Region a bunch of times in wrestling and football.

Alex Khvatov:  What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?

James Louison:  No matter what is going on, stay calm under pressure.  The next play is the most important one.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

James Louison:  NY Giants.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

James Louison:  Currently, it is Khalil Mack and Aaron Donald.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for an OL?

James Louison:  Tough, strong, good feet and heavy hands.

Alex Khvatov:  Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?

James Louison:  I am looking at the DL’s feet and where they are looking at.  That usually indicates where they will go.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

James Louison:  CB Nazir Streater is transferring.  He will be playing for Indiana, PA.  Jake Bofshever is our slot WR.  CB Jahmel Johnson got snubbed for all-conference this year.  DL Abel Joseph was all-region this year.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced?

James Louison:  Our own DL Kevin Petit-Frere.  PACE Jah’Sheem Martin was the best DL this year.  DL Danny Omoregie was very good my sophomore year.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about the all-star games that you participated in.

James Louison:  I played in the FAF all-star game at Myrtle Beach.  It was a fun game.  We rushed through a lot of things.  I met a lot of great people.  There were a lot of great football players.  We lost by a last second FG.  I also played at the HBCU Spirit of America Bowl in Virginia Beach.  It was really fun.  We spent a couple of days in the hotel.  We had two a day practice.  We had better weather and we had a bunch of scouts there.  It was good competition.
