OG Jordan Agasiva (Utah) Interview - NFL Draft Blitz

OG Jordan Agasiva (Utah) Interview

Jordan Agasiva
Offensive Guard
Utah

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Jordan Agasiva:  6’3 ½, 315 and 5.3 or 5.4.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Jordan Agasiva:  I am training at Compound fitness in Scottsdale, Arizona with a guy who has trained guys like Larry Fitzgerald.

Alex Khvatov:  When is your Pro Day?  What are your overall expectations?

Jordan Agasiva:  March 28th.  I am confident and I will kill it.  I will do my best.  I have nothing to lose and want to shine.  I want to be a dog in every drill and I want to show my best.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Jordan Agasiva:  I was pretty bad in high school.  I was a knucklehead.  I am from the ghetto part of Hawaii.  I grew up from nothing.  I came out of the hood.  I went to high school and played football.  Football wasn’t that big to me.  I left one high school went to another.  I did really good my junior and senior year at the new high school.  I was first team all-state.  I was doing better in the classroom, but it was too late.  I messed up my freshman and sophomore year.  My SAT scores had to be too high.  Hawaii showed interest, and I signed with them.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at JUCO?

Jordan Agasiva:  My SAT scores weren’t high enough to get into Hawaii.  I signed with Pima junior college in Tuscon, Arizona.  I went over there and I did really good.  I was first team all-conference and I was the number one OL coming out of the junior college that year.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you transfer to Utah?

Jordan Agasiva:  I wanted to go to Utah.  I took a visit, and my mom loved it.  My dad thought that it was good too.  I loved the family environment that is around Utah.  It is a brotherhood.  It felt real to me.  I thought that it would be closer to home, so my parents can come to see me play instead of TCU and Auburn.  My parents were getting older and taking a flight from Hawaii to Alabama wasn’t an option.  It is very far.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Jordan Agasiva:  I am a great run blocker.  My first year at Utah, I wasn’t good at pass blocking.  The second year, I was killing it in pass blocking.  I improved in that area.  I didn’t lose my one on one matchups.  I became a good pass protector.  Everything comes easy to me.  Show me the play, and I will pick it up right away.  I pick up stuff easily.  I got the mental stuff down.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Jordan Agasiva:  I have been working out at center.  I have no experience at center.  I have been training on snapping the ball.  I had experience at tackle and guard.  I have been working on my pass blocking as a center.  I am getting to know the defenses more and understanding where the blitz is coming from.  I also have been working on my footwork.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career at Utah.

Jordan Agasiva:  It was really crazy at first making the change from a junior college to a D-I.  Everything is faster, playing wise.  I played OT in high school and junior college.  I was 350.  I was really heavy when I first got there.  I did the summer training and I was down to 305 pounds.  They switched me to OG, and I became the starter out of the gate.  In fall camp, I proved myself.  I killed it in fall camp.  I was a starting RG every game except for three games.  I got injured halfway through the season.  I rolled up my ankle during the Arizona State game.  I made a strong comeback in the Washington game.  We went 7-6 that year.  Senior year, I balled out.  I was an older guy.  It was a lot easier, and the game was slower my senior year.  Second year, I was first team All-PAC-12.  We won the PAC-12 South.  It was the first time ever at Utah to win that title.  We went to the PAC-12 championship, but fell short.  Our defense played great, but the offense fell short.  I had a great game, but we should have done more offensively against Washington.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Jordan Agasiva:  Beating USC this past year in our stadium.  It is the highlight of my career.  They were my favorite team growing up.  I didn’t get an offer from them coming out of a junior college.  First year, we lost to them at the end.  We went for the two-point conversion and didn’t get it.  We ended up losing.  We lost at the Coliseum.  They went to play Ohio State that year.  They came to our house this year, and we were down 14-0 against them in the first quarter.  But we came back and won the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?

Jordan Agasiva:  Graduating in May and getting that degree in sociology.  I am the first person in my family to go to college.  My mom and dad worked so hard.  I can be a role model for my younger siblings that college is good.  It is the key.

Alex Khvatov:  What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?

Jordan Agasiva:  I learned a lot of life lessons from coach Harding.  He helped me through a lot.  I was new to everything, and he simplified things.  I learned a lot of life lessons off the field.  Taking care of your parents and being thankful for everything.  Utah is family oriented.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Jordan Agasiva:  Dallas Cowboys.  My dad is a Cowboys fan.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Jordan Agasiva:  Right now, I look at Zack Martin.  He is great.  He plays my position.  I also like to watch lots of clips of Larry Allen.  He was punishing guys back in his day.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for an OL?

Jordan Agasiva:  I know being a smart player, have to be smart, know what the calls are, know the defense.  Smart football player.  Complicated position in football, know all of the plays and the calls.  Athletic and smart.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Jordan Agasiva:  My boy OT Darrin Paulo.  Orlando Umana is our center.  Nick Ford is the LG.  RB Zack Moss and QB Tyler Huntley.  Watch our D-line.  They should go crazy this year.  They are all coming back.  DE Bradlee Anae, DT John Penisini and DT Leki Fotu.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Jordan Agasiva:  Vita Vea from Washington.  I played him during my first year.  We lost by a FG to Washington.  He was huge, but I did pretty well against him.  It was a highlight playing against him.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Jordan Agasiva:  You learn a lot of life lessons off the field.  You get knocked down, but you keep on pushing.  I love the game of football.  I have played this game since a really young age and watched the games on Sunday.

Alex Khvatov:  What makes you unique?

Jordan Agasiva:  My cooking skills.  I can bake and grill.  I am a really good cook.  I cooked for the boys on my football team a couple of times.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Jordan Agasiva:  I like to hang out with my family and hang out with my boys.  I love cooking.  I wanted to be a chef, but ended up not doing it.  I like going to the beach in Hawaii.  I like to play video games.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Jordan Agasiva:  I want to be a coach.  I also want to go back to Hawaii and become a cop or a federal agent.  Becoming a chef has also been in the back of my mind.

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?

Jordan Agasiva:  Unique, loyal, humble, caring and a dog.
