West Virginia Pro Day

The big headline for this year’s West Virginia Pro Day was quarterback Will Grier.  He didn’t test but he did throw for scouts. His throws looked crisp and his ball placement was good.  I also saw a scout practice rushing at Will Grier to get an idea of how he throws under pressure.  Grier showed he can throw on the run as well in his throwing session.  I think Grier only overthrew three balls, which is a good day for how long he threw.

WR David Sills wanted to improve on his combine numbers and had a 10” broad jump.  He looked okay on routes.  Of course, this was in an indoor practice arena with no pads on, so take that for what it’s worth.  My impression is that his height prevents him from getting in and out of his breaks well.  He looks a bit stiff.

Dravon Askew-Henry, a safety, had a broad jump of 10’19 feet. He also had a 4.59 40 and around a 4.03 3-cone.

Toyous Avery had a 9’6-foot broad jump and a 4.63 40-yard dash followed by a 4.50 40.

Kenny Bigelow Jr. had an 8’6-foot broad jump with a 5.00 40 and then a 5.03 40.

Joe Brown, a redshirt junior offensive lineman, had a 7’7-foot broad jump the first time and then a 7’8-foot broad jump the second time.  He also ran a 5.72 40-yard dash.

OL Isaiah Hardy had a 7’5-foot broad jump followed by a better 7’9-foot broad jump.

Dominique Maiden, a 6’5 receiver, had a 9’4-foot broad jump and a 4.72 40-yard dash.

Ezekiel Rose had a 7’9-foot broad jump followed by a second 7’9-foot broad jump. He also had 4.78 and 4.85 40 times, which are good for a defensive lineman.

I also got a small hint that Gary Jennings is slightly injured, and that the Saints GM Mickie Loomis wanted to talk to him.
