Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State #1

-has a rocket arm

-can throw the deep ball

-can throw under pressure

-can fit into tight windows

-impressive throwing away of passes

-questionable decision-making

-has trouble throwing into tight windows

-average accuracy

-needs to work on ball placement

 

Will Grier, QB, West Virginia #2

-live arm

-accurate passer

-gets the ball out quick

-can make a lot of intermediate throws

-can throw on the run

-scrambles in the pocket

-Was suspended in 2016 because of PED usage

-he is a mobile quarterback

-can fit passes into tight windows

-measured in a 6’2 at the Senior Bowl

-excellent ball placement

 

Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma #3

-prolific runner

-needs more zip on his passes

-can throw on the run

-has a nice deep ball

-average arm strength

-needs to step into his throws

-can drop it into the bucket

-good accuracy

-needs better pocket awareness

-executed a lot of RPOs in college

-holds the ball too long, needs to make quicker decisions

-sometimes throws a wobbly ball

-has trouble throwing passes into tight windows

-sometimes has questionable decision-making

-has the arm strength but doesn’t use it on intermediate passes

-good ball placement

 

Drew Lock, QB, Missouri #4

-Questionable decision making

-can fit passes in tight windows at times

-accurate passer

-average runner

-has some trouble with accuracy on the deep ball

-playing much more under control in 2018

-has a decent deep ball

-strong arm

-completes screens

-ball placement needs to be better

-effortless throwing the ball downfield

-sometimes too strong throwing intermediate passes

-stares down the receiver

-has decent pocket awareness

-his receivers drop balls

-can show good accuracy at times

-needs to get the ball out quicker at times

-needs to go through his progressions

-sometimes lazy with his mechanics

-played behind a bad offensive line

-hot and cold in terms of accuracy

-good pocket awareness

 

Brett Rypien, QB, Boise State (underrated) #5

-can fit passes into tight windows

-accurate

-has some zip on his passes

-can throw on the run

-is capable of the deep ball

-sleeper

-needs to be quicker with his passes

-teammates say he has a good QB personality

 

Kyle Shurmur, QB, Vanderbilt (underrated) #6

-Pat Shurmur’s son

-good accuracy

-gets rid of the ball well under pressure

-smart quarterback

-good decision-maker

-fits passes into tight windows

-average arm strength

-sometimes needs better ball placement

-good pocket awareness

 

Gardner Minshew, QB, Washington State #7

-could develop his decision-making

-decent arm strength

-feels the rush well

-accurate passer

-loses focus at times

 

Ryan Finley, QB, NC State #8

-can throw under pressure

-good pocket awareness

-gets the ball out quick

-looked comfortable against Clemson

-is capable of running

-is hot and cold with accuracy

-good footwork

-has trouble throwing downfield

-can sometimes stare down the receiver

-has some zip on his passes

-can fit into tight windows

-needs to make better reads

-doesn’t show it often but does have a strong arm

-goes through his progressions

 

Clayton Thorson, QB, Northwestern #9

-a lot of short passes against big schools but does attack downfield against small schools

-completes a lot of his passes even though they are high percentage

-good decision maker

-decently accurate passes

-has average arm strength

-delivers passes under pressure

-has shown the ability to throw on the run

-enough speed/mobility to scramble out of the pocket

-his fit is in a west coast offense

-has good footwork

-has shown the ability to fit throws into tight windows

-drops present by his receiving corps

-can sometimes make a long throw

-ran the option a little bit at Northwestern

-fairly good at getting the ball out quick

-needs to be more aggressive against good teams

-gets exposed on the deep ball

 

Nick Fitzgerald, QB, Mississippi State #10

-option runner

-not a huge arm

-decent accuracy

-looks like a competent runner

-completes a lot of underneath stuff

-holds the ball kind of long

-his mobility strength is better suited for the college game

 

Daniel Jones, QB, Duke (overrated)

-can move around a bit

-hot and cold in terms of accuracy

-receivers weren’t very good

-questionable decision-making

-throws off his back foot

-misses badly on passes

-can be quick getting the ball out

-tall 6’5

-needs to go through his whole progression

-not as strong on the deep ball

-can throw under pressure

-decent arm strength

-threw a lot of short passes in Duke’s offense

-the bootleg is a strong play for him

-had some trouble throwing in the rain

-did complete a lot of high percentage passes

-has some trouble dropping passes into a bucket

-when given time he looks good delivering the ball on intermediate routes

-needs to have better ball placement

-misses short passes he shouldn’t

 

Tyree Jackson, QB, Buffalo (overrated)

-great arm strength

-6’7 height

-wildly inaccurate

-nice deep ball

-can have good ball placement

-can extend the play with his legs

-not a good decision maker

 

Easton Stick, QB, North Dakota State (overrated)

-okay deep ball

-played in an attacking offense

-risky decision-maker

-decent ball placement

-very good runner

-stats are inflated by bad competition

-can be hot and cold in terms of accuracy

-can be wildly inaccurate

-smart runner

-decent pocket awareness

 

Kyle Kempt, QB, Iowa State (Sleeper)

-accurate

-good ball placement

-good pocket awareness

-below average arm strength

-offensive scheme did not ask him to go deep

-system QB

-good mechanics

-good decision maker

-okay throwing on the run

-quick decision-maker

-decent pocket mobility

-sometimes questionable decision-making skills

-not a great runner

-didn’t rank him because he is a system QB

 

Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn

-dual threat QB

-Went to a great program in High School. Stephenville, TX

-athletic runner

-needs to work on his balance

-holds onto the ball too long

-a lot of short passes in the Auburn offense, tons of screens

-needs to work on his accuracy

-can fit passes into tight windows

-will try to make the tough throws. Aggressive decision-maker

-makes terrible decisions

-doesn’t do as well under pressure

-looks comfortable against top competition

-has a nice deep ball in terms of accuracy

-relies too much on the run

-can throw a longer throw accurately

-can throw on the run

-has shown the ability to throw under pressure

 

Jacob Dolegala, QB, Central Connecticut State

-6’6 height

-ran the ball a lot in his offense

-decent accuracy

-decent ball placement

-threw to wide open receivers

-decent runner

 

Trace McSorley, QB, Penn State

-mobile enough quarterback

-not a deep ball thrower

-relies a lot on short passes

-gets rattled by blitzes

-is accurate in the short to intermediate game

 

Justice Hansen, QB, Arkansas State

-sidearm thrower

-poor throwing mechanics

-not accurate

-questionable decision-making

-passes get swatted because of sidearm motion

-not a good deep ball

-decent runner

-has some zip on his passes

 

Jake Browning, QB, Washington

-had a good sophomore year, but didn’t perform well his junior and senior year

-Able to make a lot of short to intermediate throws

-able to elude pass rushers

-average decision-making

-Struggles with throws downfield

-can make some downright bad decisions on throws

-looks like a different player when offensive line gives him time

-was good at the QB sneak

-is accurate on intermediate throws

-does show he can drop it into the bucket when given plenty of time

-has good command of the offense. Shows traits of a game manager

-has the ability to avoid the rush and pick up yards when the defense gives it to him

 

Tanner Mangum, QB, Brigham Young

-threw well on run

-mobile QB

-not a great deep ball

-decent arm strength

-average accuracy and ball placement

-played in an attacking offense

 

Brad Mayes, QB, Lehigh

-hot and cold in terms of accuracy

-average ball placement

-good production in the Patriot League

-has a live arm

-decent pocket mobility

-didn’t do well under pressure

-good arm strength

-played in an attacking offense
