LB Jerry Iweh (Fairmont State) Interview

Jerry Iweh
Linebacker
Fairmont State

Ed Hunt:  How did it feel out there during the Pro Day?

Jerry Iweh:  It felt good.  The nerves went away and I felt like I was in my natural element playing football.  I felt really good and really strong.

Ed Hunt:  Does Fairmont State have a Pro Day?

Jerry Iweh:  Yes, Fairmont State does have a Pro Day.  It’s right after this.  It’s at 2 o’clock.  But I got invited to West Virginia, so I came.

Ed Hunt:  Are you more of an in-the-box safety?

Jerry Iweh:  Yeah, we ran a 4-2-5, so I was in the box.  I was kind of an outside linebacker and nickel back type.  I worked out with the linebackers today.  So I guess that’s what I am.

Ed Hunt:  Would you say you are more of a hybrid guy who can cover tight ends?

Jerry Iweh:  Absolutely!  I can cover tight ends, running backs and the slot.  You can put me at the goal line, and I can cover receivers.  I really do believe I am a hybrid player.

Ed Hunt:  If you were to go undrafted, is there a team you think you would be a fit with?

Jerry Iweh:  Any team!  I feel like what I bring to the table can benefit any team because you could put me at so many positions.  I am a safety, nickel back, outside backer and edge rusher.  I can play many positions.

Ed Hunt:  What position did you play at Fairmont State?

Jerry Iweh:  We ran a 4-2-5.  I played that outside backer, safety and hybrid position.

Ed Hunt:  Can you list your strengths as to why you should be a day three pick?

Jerry Iweh:  I have strong cover skills.  I’m lengthy and rangy.  I am quick on my feet and I can get into the passing lanes.  I can cause havoc and cause turnovers.  I like to force fumbles.  I am just a selfless playmaker.  I love the team!
