CB Parnell Motley (Oklahoma) Interview - NFL Draft Blitz

CB Parnell Motley (Oklahoma) Interview

Parnell Motley

Cornerback / Oklahoma

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall experience at the 2020 East/West Shrine Bowl?

Parnell Motley:  The experience has been great so far.  It has been great to meet these guys.  I have built the connections with these guys.  It’s been more than just football.  I have built new friendships.  We have a great hotel and great facilities.  I am blessed to be a part of it.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to show NFL teams this week?

Parnell Motley:  I want to show my durability.  I want to show them that I am versatile and physical.  I am fast.  People think that I am slow.

Alex Khvatov:  You have been through some ups and downs at Oklahoma.  How has that adversity helped you throughout your career?

Parnell Motley:  It has helped me a lot.  You want to go through adversity in college before you hit the big leagues because you will face adversity there.  It is all about responding.  I am glad that I went through some of those things.  I have no regrets.  I just keep climbing and keep building.  I am blessed that I went through those things that have made me who I am today.

Alex Khvatov:  What was the biggest reason behind your breakout senior season?

Parnell Motley:  Putting all of the pieces together.  I had a good year as a sophomore.  2018 was a slow year.  I locked in this past year.  I lived up to my standard.

Alex Khvatov:  You had a new secondary coach this past year.  How instrumental was he in your success?

Parnell Motley:  He definitely helped me this year.  He put an emphasis on being physical and relentless.  Just putting it all on the table.  I was playing with confidence.  I played with aggression.  The sky is the limit.

Alex Khvatov:  What was it like being part of a winning program at Oklahoma?

Parnell Motley:  It was great being a part of a winning program in college.  But I have been part of a winning program all of my life since high school.  I won a championship every year since my sophomore year of high school.  I have played on a team with great quarterbacks.  I will always remember playing with Heisman winners in college.  I accomplished a lot of great things there.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Parnell Motley:  2017 was my breakout year.  The Ohio State game that year.  The comeback against them.  I had a pick during that game.  They took another pick back.  It was called back because of penalty.  We experienced new highs and lows during that game.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the best WR that you went up against during your career?

Parnell Motley:  Definitely CeeDee Lamb.  He is so versatile.  He practiced hard.  He displayed everything that he did in practice.  He did so much for the University of Oklahoma.  He is one of the best guys that I went up against every day.  He worked me, and I worked him.  We competed at the highest level.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about that semifinal game against LSU this past year.

Parnell Motley:  You can see the hype around the game.  Both teams were trash talking.  Ja’Marr Chase talked trash to me.  It’s over.  Shout out to him.  He is a great guy.  I wish him all of the best.  They won the game.  They are the National Champions.  That’s all that matters.

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

Parnell Motley:  Relentless.
