CB Rojesterman Farris II (Hawaii) Interview

Rojesterman Farris II
Cornerback / Hawaii

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I am 6’0, weight is 194 and I ran a 4.55 about a month ago at my mock pro day.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training?

Rojesterman Farris II:  At Per4orm in Florida.

Alex Khvatov:  When is your Pro Day?

Rojesterman Farris II:  My Hawaii pro day is supposed to be at UCLA on March 24th.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to show NFL teams at the Pro Day?

Rojesterman Farris II:  My goal is to be very fluid.  Show that I can come out of my breaks quickly, I can catch and have the speed to play at the next level.  I didn’t weigh well at the NFLPA Bowl.  My weight was 190+ during the season.  Time off hurt me.  I weighed in at 179 pounds at the NFLPA Bowl.  I want to show that I have the attributes to play at the next level.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your overall experience at the NFLPA Bowl?

Rojesterman Farris II:  It went well.  I learned from some legends.  They taught me some insights of the game.  I listened to what Rod Woodson had to say at all of the meetings.  He was a great player in the NFL.  We ended up winning the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What was the biggest thing that you took away from that all-star event?

Rojesterman Farris II:  It is all about locking in.  It comes down to crunch time.  You work on the little things and put in the extra focus in the film room that will set you apart from the other players.  Doing the little things right.  Knowing coverages and leverage.

Alex Khvatov:  What type feedback did you receive from scouts at the NFLPA Bowl?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I felt like a lot of scouts liked me.  They liked my skill set.  They wanted me to get out there and test well.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I only had three offers.  One offer was from Wagner College.  My other two offers were Liberty and Duquesne.  I didn’t have good enough grades to get in those two schools.  I had a family friend who was mentoring high school kids.  He jumped in and took me under his wing.  He sent my film out there.  He wanted me to wait after signing day.  He felt like I could get some other offers.  I committed to Wagner at the time.  I was about to sign with them.  My dad was on the phone.  He came up to me and told me not to sign anything because Hawaii just offered me.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Hawaii?

Rojesterman Farris II:  Everything happened so fast.  It was unexpected.  It was the biggest offer I had.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I bring physicality, confidence and good mentality.  I show up to work every day.  I am physical at the line of scrimmage.  I have good speed and ball skills.  I turn into a receiver and I am able to run the route for them.  I also have good character.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I am working on my off coverage.  I have to be better with my hips, leverage, staying square to the WR and my backpedal.  I have to catch every ball.  I need to make sure that my breaks are crisp.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you sum up your overall career?

Rojesterman Farris II:  Individually, I came in and did very well.  I thrived and was a four-year starter.  I was never hurt.  I played every game.  As a team, we exceeded our expectations.  When I came in, the experts were saying that we had the worst signing class.  I redshirted my first year.  In 2016, we went 7-7 and won that bowl game.  In 2017, we didn’t do well.  In 2018, we came back.  We went

8-6 and went to another bowl game.  My senior year, we went 10-5.  We turned that whole program around with coach Rolo.  We bought into the program.  We wanted to change it and leave it better than it was.  It was amazing.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Rojesterman Farris II:  Beating San Diego State two years in a row.  We beat them this year, won the Mountain west division and advanced to the MWC championship game.  I will always remember it forever.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a CB?

Rojesterman Farris II:  One snap and clear mentality.  You might slip up and get beat, but you have to bounce back and forget about it.  If you get worked up after getting beat, your technique might be thrown off.  You have to have a quiet mentality and a fresh mind.  You have to dominate the next play.  One play doesn’t decide the game.  You have to move on to the next play.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Rojesterman Farris II:  Patrick Peterson.  I grew up watching him.  My dad worked at the high school where he played.  I was always watching his games.  In high school, he was playing every position.  My dad was an AD there at the high school.

Alex Khvatov:  Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the offense?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I look for the splits and how close they are to the sideline.  I am looking at the formation, alignments and personnel.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Rojesterman Farris II:  Keep an eye on OL Kohl Levao.  LB Jeremiah Pritchard played the whole season with a broken hand.  CB Cortez Davis is a very good player and WR Jared Smart.

Alex Khvatov:  What was it like to face your teammates WR’s Cedric Byrd II and JoJo Ward on a daily basis in practice?

Rojesterman Farris II:  The scouts asked me who would I take.  I would take Jo.  We always went up against each other in practice.  We had that first rep.  He is quick and he has finesse to his game.  You couldn’t miss against him with technique or your hands.  Cedric is a quick guy.  Both guys love to compete.  I saw Jo a lot more because he played outside.  Cedric was a slot receiver.  We didn’t go up against each other.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the toughest player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Rojesterman Farris II:  Michael Gallup.  He was quick, strong, ran good routes and had speed.

Alex Khvatov:  What was the biggest thing that you took away from your coaching staff?

Rojesterman Farris II:  The biggest thing was having trust in the coaches and their techniques.  You have to buy in.  When I came in as a young player, I saw a bunch of fights in the locker room between teammates.  The team won three games a season through the last four years.  We wanted to change the culture.  I wanted to have a good career and win games.  We had to listen to the coaches and master the techniques.  It is never going to work if you are fighting your teammates and the coaching staff.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I love the locker room and the camaraderie.  It is brotherly love.  I love hitting, making plays and when my teammates make plays.  I love the game.  I have played football since I have been five years old.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Rojesterman Farris II:  I might play some PS4 and go bowling.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Rojesterman Farris II:  If I make enough money, I want to open up my own business.  I have a political science and sociology degrees.  I want to go into the political field.  I want to be a Congress type of person.  Lobbying for bills and making a positive change in the world.  I want to help young kids who have been through a lot of obstacles and help them out.  I want to impact people’s lives.

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?

Rojesterman Farris II:  Selfless, caring, confident, resilient and determined.
