OL Tim Lynott (Colorado) Pro Day Interview

Tim Lynott

Offensive Lineman / Colorado

Ed Hunt:  How do you feel you did today during your Pro Day?

Tim Lynott:  I felt pretty well.  A lot of the drills, I felt like I was moving pretty quick.  I felt good especially in the 5-2-5 drill and the L drill.  It just felt like a good day overall and everything I was doing was going pretty smooth.

Ed Hunt:  What was your count on the bench press?

Tim Lynott:  29.

Ed Hunt:  And I calculated a 5.3 on the 40.  Is that what you got?

Tim Lynott:  I think, yeah.  Around there, yeah.

Ed Hunt:  What is your biggest strength?

Tim Lynott:  Biggest strength is just moving.  In the drills I felt like I was moving pretty quick.  My feet are good and that is something that I could benefit against stronger and bigger d-linemen.

Ed Hunt:  Who was the best defensive lineman you faced in the PAC-12?

Tim Lynott:  A lot of them.  The majority of them are great players and a lot of hard ones to play against.  For the most part there was a guy on Washington, he was pretty good.  I think he was #95, I think.  I forget his name.  Overall, I think the PAC-12 has a lot of d-linemen that are talented, strong guys and just really good.

Ed Hunt:  Were you a three or four star recruit out of high school?

Tim Lynott:  Four.

Ed Hunt:  What made you choose CU out of high school?

Tim Lynott:  I had a lot of options out of high school and especially the PAC-12.  CU was just something that was close to me.  Something that was close to my family.  I’m only like an hour away, but far enough that gives me a break.  They had the new facilities coming and I love the coaching staff.  The coaches came in with great guys and they treated me well.  They are great coaches overall.  I really appreciated them.  I was stuck between Oregon, Colorado and ASU.  I thought this would be the best choice.  I heard they were up and coming and they were especially the year I came in.

Ed Hunt:  What other sports have you played?

Tim Lynott:  I played baseball up until my sophomore year of high school and I played basketball till middle school.  I was football focused.

Ed Hunt:  Would you say you are student of the game type playing offensive line?

Tim Lynott:  Playing offensive line, you have to know how the defense is going to play and know what to do and tell the other guards and tackles what you see and got to point that out.  Need to keep learning and constant learning.  I believe you have to keep studying, otherwise you lose and it’s something you just have to keep doing.  It helps you a lot especially when you play guard and you can play guard at any point and help out the tackle.  You can help with the center as well.  It definitely helps for sure.

Ed Hunt:  You were a four-year starter and you played offensive guard and then you moved to center your senior year?

Tim Lynott:  No, I started off my freshman year, I was a guard the entire time.  The second year after that, I played guard and center because the center kept getting hurt a little bit.  Junior year, same exact thing.  Then senior year, I just played center all the way.

Ed Hunt:  Would you say at the next level you are an interior swing guy?

Tim Lynott:  Yeah, I can do any position.  Right guard, center, left guard.  I can play all of it.  Obviously, I can’t play tackle.  Just whatever I can do to help out the team, I’ll do.  I feel comfortable at any spot.  I’ve pretty much played all of them.  I was a left guard for the most part, but I think I could play any of them.

Ed Hunt:  Have you hired an agent yet?

Tim Lynott:  I have.  Zach Ospeed.  He’s based out of Florida.  He was here just a couple of minutes ago.  He left to catch his flight out to New York.

Ed Hunt:  Has your agent talked about what round or what teams are interested?

Tim Lynott:  Yeah, he’s talked to a lot of teams that are interested like the Jets, Broncos and 49ers.  All these other teams.  He’s talked to pretty much 5-7 teams.  A lot of teams like offensive linemen who can play many different positions, so I can play any of those positions so that would be great.  That’s something I can do that other linemen can’t, so I can play all three positions especially in the middle.

Ed Hunt:  Do you remember all the scouts you have talked to?

Tim Lynott:  No, I started it towards the end of college.  CGS came and I played in it in the beginning of January.  A couple of months back, but the ones I’ve mentioned I’ve talked to before.

Ed Hunt:  Maybe you get drafted and maybe you don’t. Why should an NFL team go after you?

Tim Lynott:  You know I’m versatile.  I played all four years in college.  I know what I’m doing.  Smart guy on and off the field.  I’m not going to make any mistakes, especially off the field and that’s definitely something I believe is an advantage.  When you are good off the field too, you’re better on the football field and I truly believe that and I’ll do whatever to help the team out.
