Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Aleva Hifo: 5’10, 184 and 4.41 forty.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training?
Aleva Hifo: I was training at Landow Performance in Denver, Colorado. Now I am back in school at the training facility.
Alex Khvatov: You conducted a Mock Pro Day recently. How did you perform?
Aleva Hifo: My broad jump was a 10’10, 37.5 on the vert, 4.14 shuttle and 7.09 in the 3-cone. I did the testing at Landow Performance. I was very happy with my forty and how I jumped. I wish that I was faster in the shuttle and the three-cone.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your overall experience at the Hula Bowl all-star game?
Aleva Hifo: It was good. Being in Hawaii at the end of January. I am glad that they brought this all-star game back. It was good competition. I went up against one of the corners from Utah and Georgia Southern. I went up some good schools. It was a challenge.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Aleva Hifo: I had two offers coming out of CA, BYU and Nevada.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you choose BYU?
Aleva Hifo: My family were big fans of BYU. I had a cousin that played here. I liked everything about the program.
Alex Khvatov: Was it a smooth transition for you moving from DB to receiver in college?
Aleva Hifo: I was recruited as a DB. But I actually played WR, RB and DB in high school. BYU asked me what position I wanted to play on signing day. I told them that I wanted to play WR.
Alex Khvatov: What was it like to play with your cousin LB Sione Takitaki on the same team?
Aleva Hifo: We played together for two years. It was good. We actually played in high school. I talked to him every day, and we lived together.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Aleva Hifo: I am a faster WR coming from the slot. I transition out of my breaks quickly and I am explosive with the ball in my hands.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Aleva Hifo: Working on improving at the top of my routes. At the next level, you will face a lot of man coverage and the DB’s are a lot smarter.
Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your overall career?
Aleva Hifo: It went by very quickly. After my mission, I came in and played right away. I played on offense all four years. My freshman year, we had the best record in terms of wins and losses. We went 9-4. It has been a roller coaster ride ever since. We went 7-6 this past year and lost the last bowl game. It hurt us, seniors. I was happy with the decision that I made when I came here.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Aleva Hifo: The win over Wisconsin. It was one of the better games. I had a lot of rushing yards. They used on jet sweeps and it kept working. I also threw a TD. We upset a good team. My cousin Sione Takitaki had a good game.
Alex Khvatov: What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?
Aleva Hifo: All of the wins. There is no better feeling than winning in front of your home crowd. Winning against USC my senior year.
Alex Khvatov: Who was the toughest opponent that you faced this past season?
Aleva Hifo: Utah. We saw them early in the season.
Alex Khvatov: What was the biggest thing that you took away from your coaching staff?
Aleva Hifo: For me personally, I had two offensive coaches and two receiver coaches. I learned different aspects of the game from them.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a WR?
Aleva Hifo: The little details like knowing how to read defenses and locate the man in zone coverage.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Aleva Hifo: I liked the Colts a lot because of the Peyton Manning era. My family always rooted for the 49ers.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Aleva Hifo: Kenny Stills and Brandin Cooks. Cooks can stretch the field and has crazy ball skills. Stills always gets open.
Alex Khvatov: Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?
Aleva Hifo: Eyes on the slot corner and locate the safety. Lock on the field and it gets all quiet.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Aleva Hifo: DT Khyiris Tonga has been an impact player since his freshman year. TE Matt Bushman.
Alex Khvatov: Who was the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Aleva Hifo: Utah nickel corner Guidry.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Aleva Hifo: The environment. My life has always revolved around football. I love the game. I want to play the game as long as I can.
Alex Khvatov: What makes you unique?
Aleva Hifo: I interact with other people well. I have a large family. We have eight kids in my house.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Aleva Hifo: I like to play video games. I also like to do outdoor stuff like hiking and fishing. I spend a lot of time with my family. I am from North of San Diego. My family moved here with me. It is a lot colder in Utah than in CA.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Aleva Hifo: My major was in exercise and wellness. I want to be involved in sports. I want to be a physical trainer.
Alex Khvatov: What five words best describe you?
Aleva Hifo: Loving, hard worker, kind, determined and funny.
