Luq Barcoo
Cornerback / San Diego State

Ed Hunt:  What are your measurements? (Height, Weight and 40 time)

Luq Barcoo:  I’m 6’1, 182 pounds and I ran a 4.41 40 time.  It was a 4.43 by laser.

Ed Hunt:  What has happened to your training due to the COVID 19?

Luq Barcoo:  It just caused my pro day to get cancelled and my workouts with teams, but I’ve still been training the same.

Ed Hunt:  Were you able to make up your Pro Day?

Luq Barcoo:  I pretty much had my own pro day and it was on KUSI news.  I gave accurate times and didn’t cheat the process.

Ed Hunt:  How many scouts have you talked to?

Luq Barcoo:  At least like 15-20.  A lot.  Probably more than that.  At least 20.

Ed Hunt:  What schools were interested in you out of high school?

Luq Barcoo:  Utah State, San Diego State, Portland State, Colorado State and Humboldt, but that’s a D-II.

Ed Hunt:  What made you pick Grossmont College out of high school?

Luq Barcoo:  It was kind of my plan B.  It was the closest to me.  I wasn’t going to a division 1 school.  I kind of messed up in high school.  I pulled my hamstring tendon, and my coaches made me come back too early.  Then scouts noticed I wasn’t able to get back into football.  I was going through some hard things in my life and struggled with some anxiety.  I then chose Grossmont.

Ed Hunt:  What made you transfer to San Diego State?

Luq Barcoo: San Diego State was the school I always wanted to go.  I’m from San Diego and always wanted to stay in my hometown.

Ed Hunt:  What is your biggest sport outside of football?

Luq Barcoo:  Soccer.  I played a lot of soccer.  I did track to get faster at football.  I am able to play different sports like basketball and soccer.

Ed Hunt:  What is your biggest accomplishment in that sport?

Luq Barcoo:  I’ve never played on a team.  I’ve played recreational soccer.  I’m Jamaican, so it’s in my blood.

Ed Hunt:  What are your strengths (on the football field)?

Luq Barcoo:  My ability to catch the ball.  Being a ballhawk and my athleticism.  Being able to keep up with any guy on the field.

Ed Hunt:  What are your weaknesses?

Ed Hunt:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college?

Luq Barcoo:  I would say transitioning from JUCO to becoming an all-American at San Diego State.

Ed Hunt:  What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?

Luq Barcoo:  Just how to be accountable.  Coming in from JUCO, learning the structure and having to be on time.  How strict they taught it there.  More disciplined.

Ed Hunt:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Luq Barcoo:  I like the Minnesota Vikings.

Ed Hunt:  Who is an NFL player you model your career off of?

Ed Hunt:  What is the most important trait for a cornerback?

Luq Barcoo:  I would say confidence and having short-term memory.  You are going to get back, but how you come back.

Ed Hunt:  Before the ball is snapped, what tendencies are you looking for in the offense?

Luq Barcoo:  I’m just making sure of the situation, the formation and what they like to do in each formation.  Where the receiver is lined up.

Ed Hunt:  What players from your team should we keep an eye on for next year (underclassmen)?

Luq Barcoo:  Darren Hall, Tariq Thompson, Trenton Thompson, Tayler Hawkins, Cameron Thomas, and Greg Bell.

Ed Hunt:  Who is the best player you have faced on an opposing team?

Ed Hunt:  What are your hobbies?

Luq Barcoo:  I like to travel and explore new things.  Try new movies.  I’m more versatile and down to earth.

Ed Hunt:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career?

Luq Barcoo:  I definitely want to open up some businesses and do some real estate and maybe open up a clothing line.

Ed Hunt:  What was your degree in?

Luq Barcoo:  Social Science

Ed Hunt:  What five words best describe you?

Luq Barcoo:  Confident, hard-working, talented, determined, and resilient.

Ed Hunt:  Why should an NFL team draft you?

Luq Barcoo:  Because I’ve overcome a lot.  If I get on an NFL team, I’m going to fight.  I’m going to put my head down and grind and stay resilient.  In this draft, I feel like I deserve to be a day one guy and I’m going to prove that once I get there.  I’m a steal, God-willing.
