DB Isaiah Pierre (Elizabeth City State) Interview

Isaiah Pierre
Defensive Back / Elizabeth City State

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Isaiah Pierre:  5’10, 183 and my time is 4.34.

Alex Khvatov:  Where were you training for the NFL Draft?

Isaiah Pierre:  I was training 3 times a day.  The first workout would be with Bommarito Performance System and the second would be at the beach sands.  The last workout would always be an overtime section with Darnell Solomon, a wide receiver from USF and Lawrence Brown, a linebacker from Elizabeth City State University.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall experience at the FCS Bowl in Daytona Beach, FL.

Isaiah Pierre:  Great!  Got to connect with some amazing small school players from around the country.  I went to the game to play corner, but I got switched to safety once again.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Isaiah Pierre:  Not much.  I was slept on like I have been my whole career.  I made my way to the University of Missouri.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Missouri?

Isaiah Pierre:  I wanted to play SEC ball.  SEC is the best of the best, and I consider myself in that group.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you transfer to JUCO?

Isaiah Pierre:  I blew every ligament in my knee.  I wanted to go to JUCO, play hurt and go to another D1.  Also, I wanted to follow the playing experience instead of sitting and recovering at Mizzou.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Western New Mexico University?

Isaiah Pierre:  My JUCO degree ended up getting posted at the end of the summer.  This made the D-I schools that had interest move away because I wasn’t ready for summer training.  I wound up connecting with coach Adam Clark who is a D-III defensive mastermind.  Coach Clark intellect inspired me into becoming a mustang.  Also, I had a vision to change the culture in the locker room with Jamari Morgan.

Alex Khvatov: Why did you decide to transfer to Elizabeth City State University for your final season?

Isaiah Pierre:  I received my degree at WNMU and became a graduate transfer.  I chose ECSU because a couple of my high school teammates that have a similar journey like myself attended there.  Ahmauree Hastings and Lawrence Brown were my high school teammates that had crazy journey too.  Also, it just felt like home during my visit.  The coaches are very welcoming, the school is amazing, and the stadium is great for a D-II HBCU football program.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Isaiah Pierre:  Speed, quickness, physicality and most importantly IQ.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Isaiah Pierre:  Just finding ways to somehow make QB target me more.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall career.

Isaiah Pierre:  Long story short.  I just locked down receivers all over the country in different levels.  A cool roller coaster journey that I don’t regret.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Isaiah Pierre:  The highlight of my career is right now!  People are starting to wake up!

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?

Isaiah Pierre:  Just seeing how my story motivates people.  I have a big heart and want to see everybody win.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Isaiah Pierre:  I really don’t have a favorite team.  I’m too busy trying to make it on an NFL team.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Isaiah Pierre:  I’m going with a throwback for the interview.  Bob Sanders is an amazing, undersized DB.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a DB?

Isaiah Pierre:  Flexibility, speed, quickness and hips.  I do pilates and yoga to improve in those aspects.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Isaiah Pierre:  The Whole Team!  The boys will be going crazy next year because they want it bad.  Lots of talent from the DB to the QB position.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Isaiah Pierre:  The experiences and the people you meet across the country.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Isaiah Pierre:  I like to go to the football field, gym, do yoga, dance at home and be a film junkie.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Isaiah Pierre:  Real Estate, buy stocks, and own over five businesses.
