Jack Sorenson
Wide Receiver / Miami (Ohio)
Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Jack Sorenson: My height is over 6’0 ¼, and I was 193 pounds recently.
Alex Khvatov: How were you preparing for the 2020 season with no offseason training?
Jack Sorenson: We had a detailed strength training regimen that the coaches came up with. I rented a lot of weights. I had a field that I went to. A couple of my buddies and a QB would train there a couple of times a week. I was staying in shape and doing what I need to do. Now I am back on campus. I am bigger and faster.
Alex Khvatov: Besides football, what other sports did you play in high school?
Jack Sorenson: I played lacrosse. I was committed to Boston University for lacrosse my freshman year. I grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. I had a natural knack for the game. I played for three years. I wanted to play basketball my last year.
Alex Khvatov: What positions did you play in high school?

Jack Sorenson: Most of the MAC, the Academy schools and the Ivy League schools.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at Miami, Ohio?

Alex Khvatov: How would you describe your overall career?
Jack Sorenson: As a team, we were 0-6 my freshman year, but we bounced back and finished the year 6-7. We won the MAC Championship this past season. We have come a long way as a team, but we are still not favored going into this year. They bet against us. We are always doubted. It has been four of the hardest years of my life. I scored a TD against Iowa and then I tore my ligaments. I missed a total of four games my junior year. I never got the momentum going this past year. I spent so much time in the training room to get back on the field. I received the MAC Championship MVP award. I gained over 300 yards and four TD’s in the last couple of games.
Alex Khvatov: What can we expect from the RedHawks this upcoming season?
Jack Sorenson: We want to go back-to-back and win another MAC Championship. We are a more motivated team this year. We have most guys back. We worked hard last year and lived in the moment. We won it, and people say that it was a fluke. I was discouraged at first, but we are more motivated now as a team.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Jack Sorenson: I understand defenses really well and what DB’s aren’t good at. I study my opponents and try to exploit their weaknesses. Also my route running.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Jack Sorenson: Working against physical corners in man releases. Working on my feet and hands.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for this upcoming season?
Jack Sorenson: OT Tommy Doyle, C Danny Godlevske, TE Andrew Homer, and DE Ben Kimpler. WR Jalen Walker is the best receiver that we have.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Jack Sorenson: Okudah knew what his weaknesses were. He played to his strengths and knew what my weaknesses where. It was a fun battle. I had four catches for 70 yards against OSU. I had three catches against him.
