RB Jaylen Warren (Utah State) Interview - NFL Draft Blitz

RB Jaylen Warren (Utah State) Interview

Jaylen Warren
Running Back / Utah State

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Jaylen Warren:  Height is 5’9 and weight is 213 right now.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you prepare for the 2020 season with no offseason training?

Jaylen Warren:  I had a trainer that I worked with.  He trains my friends.  I was there training with him Monday through Saturday.  I do home workouts.  I also go to the field and run.

Alex Khvatov:  What positions did you play in high school?

Jaylen Warren:  I only played RB.  I was also a Wildcat QB.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Jaylen Warren:  I ended up at JUCO.  I didn’t take school seriously.  I didn’t have the grades.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at JUCO?

Jaylen Warren:  I went to Snow College in Utah.  It was the best choice for me.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you transfer to Utah State?

Jaylen Warren:  I had Hawaii and Utah State.  Utah State is not too far and not too close from home.  Gary Andersen played a huge role in my decision.  My high school coach felt like it was the best fir for me.  Utah State and Hawaii play each other every year.  The year prior to that, Hawaii lost to Utah State.  I wanted to go with a winner.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your junior campaign?

Jaylen Warren:  We didn’t have the best outcome that we wanted.  Our team went 7-6.  We lost the bowl game.  As a team, we were hungry.  I enjoyed this season.  It taught me a lot as a far as grit and dedication.  It taught me to have faith in my teammates.  D-I program is a lot different from Snow College.  I got hurt after the first three games.  I wasn’t the same.  I had a spine disc injury.  I missed one game.  I came back and then I sprained my ankle against Air Force.  I never had a season where I dealt with these injuries.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe your former teammate QB Jordan Love?

Jaylen Warren:  He is a smart guy.  He knows his game.  He is cool.  He is a chill dude.  Everybody loved him.  He had his moments.

Alex Khvatov:  What can we expect from your team this upcoming season?

Jaylen Warren:  MWC is the expectation.  We strive for that.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Jaylen Warren:  The strengths of my game are my first three steps and my vision.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Jaylen Warren:  Everything.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Jaylen Warren:  Beating De La Salle high school.  We beat them at their home field.  I also gained 3,000 rushing during my senior year.  I played at East high school in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest lesson that you have taken away from your coaching staff?

Jaylen Warren:  You got to hold yourself accountable.  They won’t baby you here.  You have to man up and get your stuff done.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Jaylen Warren:  Saquon Barkley.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for this upcoming season?

Jaylen Warren:  OLB Cash Gilliam, DB Troy Lefeged, S Shaq Bond, C Demytrick Ali’ifua, DE Justus Te’i and CB Andre Grayson.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a RB?

Jaylen Warren:  You have to have that mindset to score every time.  That is the goal.  Be a dog.  Don’t go down easy and hold on to the ball.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Jaylen Warren:  The competitiveness.  The brotherhood it creates.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Jaylen Warren:  I play PS4 and listen to music.

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?

Jaylen Warren:  Competitive, grit, positive, laid-back, and fun.
