RB Quincy Wimbish Jr. (West Liberty) Interview

Quincy Wimbish Jr.

Running Back / West Liberty

Christopher Reiss:  What are your measurements? (Height, Weight, 40 Time)

Quincy Wimbish:  5’11, 195lbs and 4.5 hand time.

Christopher Reiss:  During this global pandemic, what are you doing to prepare for the 2020-2021 season?

Quincy Wimbish:  I have been working on my speed for the most part.

Christopher Reiss:  When breaking down your film, what should stick out?

Quincy Wimbish:  When you watch my film, you will see I am a very passionate player.  When I have the ball in my hands, I am a very hard runner.  Not only that, but I can make people miss in the open field and I can also run though people.  I will also stand in the backfield and protect my quarterback.

Christopher Reiss:  Coming out of high school, what schools had interest in you?

Quincy Wimbish:  A few small D2 schools, but Memphis showed a whole lot of interest.  I decided to go to Memphis.

Christopher Reiss:  In high school, what other positions did you play?

Quincy Wimbish:  In high school, I played RB and also played defensive back.  I would play nickel cornerback most of the time.  In high school, my coach would not let me play defense very much.

Christopher Reiss:  How would you describe your overall career?

Quincy Wimbish:  I know the game from the beginning to the end of the game.  I have been playing running back my entire career now.  Having that experience made the game come very natural to me.  I enrolled at Memphis and I just did not really fit in.  I also got into a car accident over there which kind of influenced me to come back home.  I transferred to Arizona but due to some transfer rules, I couldn’t.  Now I am playing for West Liberty.

Christopher Reiss:  What part of your game do you take pride in the most?

Quincy Wimbish:  I would have to say blocking.  Most running backs do not like sticking their nose into the opponents’ chest.  I take pride in blocking to protect my quarterback.

Christopher Reiss:  At WLU, what are you majoring in?

Quincy Wimbish:  I am majoring in exercise physiology.

Christopher Reiss:  What does life after football look like for you?

Quincy Wimbish:  After football, I would like to own a gym.  I love working out and I want others to feel my passion.

Christopher Reiss:  Is there a player or players in the NFL that you look up to?

Quincy Wimbish:  The player that I looked up to the most has to be Reggie Bush, no question.  I wear the number 5 all my life because of him.  My teammates and coaches have compared me to the great Marcus Allen before too.

Christopher Reiss:  If you cannot play running back anymore, what position would you play?

Quincy Wimbish:  I would switch to defense and play strong safety.  I like hitting my opponents, so why not do that on the opposite side of the ball.  Also on offense, I would have to say slot receiver because when in the open, I am gone with my speed.  I always feel like I have hands like a receiver.

Christopher Reiss:  Tell me some strengths of your game.

Quincy Wimbish:  Some of my strengths include, catching the ball out of the backfield, protecting my quarterback with my blocking, and I also can run right through the hole that my offensive line creates for me.  But my biggest strength that my coaches tell me is my vision.

Christopher Reiss:  What are some things you need to work on in your game?

Quincy Wimbish:  I need to work on my speed.  Not saying my speed is bad, but we all can get a bit faster.

Christopher Reiss:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Quincy Wimbish:  The Las Vegas Raiders.

Christopher Reiss:  What was the highlight of your career?

Quincy Wimbish:  My junior year of high school.  We were playing a cross town rival and the game went to overtime.  At this point in the game, I have already scored four touchdowns, three rushing and one receiving.  It was the first play from scrimmage in overtime.  Coach called a play that game me a handoff and I scored the winning touchdown to beat them.

Christopher Reiss:  What motivates you?

Quincy Wimbish:  What motivates me are the students, teachers, and even friends that said I could not play football in college.  Now there are people that say I cannot make it to the NFL.  I want to prove them wrong too.  I am also the oldest of three brothers and I have a sister.  I want to show them that if you put your mind to it, you can really achieve it.

Christopher Reiss:  Who is your go-to artist on game day?

Quincy Wimbish:  Nipsey Hussle.  His music just gets me in that grinding mode.

Christopher Reiss:  What are some hobbies of yours?

Quincy Wimbish:  If you want to count training and yoga as a hobby.  I am a family man, so I love spending time with them and hanging out with my close friends.  I also like playing video games and my favorite game is Fortnite.

Christopher Reiss:  Did you ever have a nickname?  If you did, what was it?

Quincy Wimbish:  I do.  Lil Q is my nickname.  My dad is called Q.  I am a junior, and my dad is a senior.  That is where they got it from.  But in high school, my coaches and teammates called me the Q train.
