Christopher Reiss: What are your measurements?
Cameron Saunders: 6’2, 195lbs.
Christopher Reiss: During COVID-19, what have you been doing this offseason to prepare for the upcoming season?
Cameron Saunders: I have been able to do my normal workout just without the weight room. Cone drills, ladder drills, running, and field work. With all of the weight room currently opened up, I just added that back into my normal workout.
Christopher Reiss: When breaking down your film, what should stand out?
Cameron Saunders: My press release, the way that I use my size against my opponent, my hands. My deep ball high jump is just special.
Christopher Reiss: Coming out of high school, what schools show interest in you?
Cameron Saunders: I had a bunch of schools that had interest in me. UF was the only D-I school, but I decided to take my talents to New Mexico Military Institute.
Christopher Reiss: In high school, what other positions did you play besides wide receiver?
Cameron Saunders: I played cornerback and all of the special teams positions.
Christopher Reiss: In high school, what other sports did you play besides football?
Cameron Saunders: Basketball and track.
Christopher Reiss: What made you transfer from New Mexico Military Institute to Central Missouri?
Cameron Saunders: I wanted to find an offense that would maximize my skill set, and Central Missouri was that school. I wanted to compete, and Central Missouri just felt like home.
Christopher Reiss: What are the expectations for the team for this upcoming season?
Cameron Saunders: We are thinking about the National Championship. We have 18 returning seniors from last season. This is going to be our season if we can play through Covid. We want to bring one back to Central Missouri.
Christopher Reiss: Is there anyone on your team that we should keep our eye out for this season?
Cameron Saunders: Kyle Bradley, Zach Davidson, Shae Wyatt, Codie Bell, Deven Smith, and Ubong Udom.
Christopher Reiss: How would you describe your overall career?
Cameron Saunders: I am still learning every day at practice. You learn a lot from your coaches, but what I learned in college is that you learn a lot from the other players on my team. My whole college experience has just been learning from years and years. I am a student of the game. I am going to keep pushing to be the greatest and have a chance to play at the next level.
Christopher Reiss: What is the highlight of your college football career?
Cameron Saunders: Against Nebraska-Kearney, I had a game winning touchdown. It was like a 60-yard touchdown. I had 5 catches for 127 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Christopher Reiss: What are some strengths of your game?
Cameron Saunders: My leadership skills, my ability to relate to my teammates is something special. My versatility on and off the field. With my military background, I had a chance to learn and get close with players and friends from other countries. Something that helped me be a leader.
Christopher Reiss: What are some assets of your game that you are trying to improve on?
Cameron Saunders: I am working on my ice in my veins. I want to be the player that my team goes to. I don’t want to fold in the biggest games. I want to do more to learn my opponent. I want to do more than just watch film, I want to learn the exact player that is going to be guarding me. I want to be the last player to leave the practice field.
Christopher Reiss: What do you enjoy most about football?
Cameron Saunders: What I enjoy most about the game of football is the culture in the locker room. Football is a game inside of a game. I have to beat the person in front of me to help the overall team to win. I love thinking about football in that kind of way. Football is a chess match.
Christopher Reiss: What are you majoring in?
Cameron Saunders: I have a major in sports management with a minor in business.
Christopher Reiss: What does life after football look like for you?
Cameron Saunders: NFL is the main goal, but I want to get back into the game. I want to give back to the youth.
Christopher Reiss: What or who motivates you?
Cameron Saunders: Everyday struggles, knowing I got people who count on me.
Christopher Reiss: Is there a player in the NFL that you look up to?
Cameron Saunders: Jarvis Landry’s route running, AJ Green’s fade ball and separation.
Christopher Reiss: What is your favorite football team?
Cameron Saunders: San Francisco 49ers.
Christopher Reiss: Who is your favorite football player of all-time?
Cameron Saunders: Larry Rose III and Tyrian Taylor.
Christopher Reiss: What are some hobbies of yours?
Cameron Saunders: When I am in my off time, I am playing Xbox with friends and teammates. I enjoy hanging out with family and friends. I like to fish with my family.
Christopher Reiss: On game day, who is your go-to artist?
Cameron Saunders: Rod Wave. He is nice and calming.
