DT Vincent McIntosh (Jackson State) Interview

Vincent McIntosh

Defensive Tackle / Jackson State

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Vincent McIntosh:  I am 6’1, 320 and 4.8.

Alex Khvatov:  How are you currently staying in shape despite not having a fall football season?

Vincent McIntosh:  I am currently working out with my former high school coach Darryl Carter.  He coaches at Shannon high school in Mississippi.

Alex Khvatov:  Besides football, what other sports did you play in high school?

Vincent McIntosh:  I played basketball my freshman and sophomore year.  I started to get interest from Mississippi State, so I just focused on football.

Alex Khvatov:  What positions did you play in high school?

Vincent McIntosh:  I played RB.  I was 6’1, 270 pounds.  I also played a little DT and MLB.  One school was looking at me to play FB, but most schools were looking at me to play DE and DT.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Vincent McIntosh:  Jackson State and Mississippi State were looking at me out of high school.  I never got an offer from Mississippi State.  I went to a junior college for a year.  I was a top prospect at a junior college after that one year.  I had ULM, Louisiana, Murray State and Youngstown State.  My D-line coach got fired, and I went to another junior college.  I broke my hand there and I thought that I was done with football.  All of my offers disappeared.  I stopped playing ball.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Jackson State?

Vincent McIntosh:  Coach Hendrick from Jackson State called me.  He became the head coach there.  I accepted his offer.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your 2019 season.

Vincent McIntosh:  It was truly a dream come true to play at Jackson State.  I loved it.  I had a great year despite breaking my hand.  It didn’t stop me.  I came back next practice with a cast on.  I averaged a lot of tackles with a broken hand.  I still have two years remaining at the school.

Alex Khvatov:  When will Jackson State resume play?

Vincent McIntosh:  We should play in the spring.  We will have conference games and a conference championship.

Alex Khvatov:  There are rumors out there that Deion Sanders will be the new head coach at Jackson State.  What do you think about Primetime being your next head coach?

Vincent McIntosh:  It is a rumor.  He is a candidate for the job.  It would be crazy for me.  In elementary school, I read his books.  It would be a dream come true for him to be my head coach.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Vincent McIntosh:  I had a very good year.  I am a dominant run stuffer.  I didn’t show it last year, but I am also a good pass rusher.  I had three sacks.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Vincent McIntosh:  Pass rush.  I need to perfect some techniques.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Vincent McIntosh:  We played Prairie View A&M, and I had two sacks that game.  I also had a big time play in OT against Mississippi Valley State.  I had a big stop on fourth down play.  We won the game by a FG.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest lesson that you have taken away from your coaching staff?

Vincent McIntosh:  Leadership.  Leading by example and being a role model for the younger guys.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Vincent McIntosh:  I always liked the Vikings.  It is my childhood team.  I liked Percy Harvin.  He was one of my favorite players.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Vincent McIntosh:  Aaron Donald.  I try to learn from him.  He is the best to ever do it.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for this upcoming season?

Vincent McIntosh:  DE Justin Ragin and CB CJ Holmes.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?
