Week 3 Players under the scope

Here are a few players from week three of CFB action.

D’Eriq King, QB, Miami

King is a 5’10 quarterback and that little height is concerning when he progresses to the next level, but there is a lot to like about his college tape. He is a dual threat quarterback who can add something as a runner. King also has a pretty big arm which he can use to launch the deep ball. I would like to see him throw a tighter spiral. I do credit him with having some zip on his passes though. What I like best about D’Eriq King is his ball placement when throwing on the run. King has been around the block with a few teams, but I think a big year in the ACC could have NFL scouts interested in him on day two.

Gregory Rousseau, DE, Miami

What I like best about Rousseau’s game is the way he converts speed to power as a pass rusher. He has good technique as a pass rusher. I think he also gets off blocks decently well in the run game. I would rate him as an average run stopper. I like his get-off at the line of scrimmage. He has a quick first step. He also like to try to beat the tackle around the arc, but I think the strength of his pass rushing is the way he converts speed to power. He opted out of the 2020 season.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame

The Notre Dame linebacker is someone who played on the outside in Notre Dame’s 4-3 scheme. As a run defender, he needs more range sideline to sideline. He is more of a part-time player for the Irish where he is better in passing sub packages. The thing that is going to endear him to NFL scouts is his pass coverage ability. I think he will play like a hybrid or Sam linebacker kind of role in the NFL where they can take advantage of his man coverage skills and take him off when it’s more of a run defending play. I will say that he does have a strong base in his pursuit, so a heavy blitz defense would be a good fit for him at the next level.

Tommy Kraemer, OG, Notre Dame

Kraemer has been used in Notre Dame’s system as a zone run blocker. He does need to square to the defender better and I think the problem is his footwork and foot speed. He also needs to support better as a pass blocker. I would also like to see him get his body into his blocking. I think he is limited in the NFL to a zone running scheme. I’m not high on Kraemer like I am on Eichenberg.

Tommy Tremble, TE, Notre Dame

I didn’t get a great look at Tremble, but I wanted to point out a few things that I like about his game. He is a great lead blocker. He is a tight end who can line up as a fullback and be a lead blocker. He can also catch the ball too. He is only 6’4 as a tight end, but I like the heart he plays with and that is bigger for me than height.
