Senior RB Trey Sermon (Ohio State)
He started his career with the Sooners. He had a good season at Oklahoma in 2018. In 2019, he suffered a knee injury that caused him to miss the final five games and he transferred to the Buckeyes this spring. He saved his best performance in a new uniform for the Big 10 Championship Game. He carried Ohio State to a win against Northwestern. He gained 331 rushing yards on 29 carries and scored two TD’s. Sermon dominated in the second half of that game. He got stronger as the game wore on. He displayed outstanding vision, good speed and terrific balance. He bounced off arm tackles and picked up lots of yards after contact. He also showed the ability to make the first defender miss at the second level.
Senior RB Najee Harris (Alabama)
Alabama QB Mac Jones and WR DeVonta Smith had very good games against the Florida Gators in the SEC Championship game. However, Harris was the guy carrying the offense on Saturday. He had 178 yards on 31 carries and scored two TD’s on the ground. He also added five receptions for 67 yards and three TD catches. He is a very athletic back for his size (6’2, 230 pounds). He likes to hurdle the defenders in the open field or use a spin move. He is a surprisingly nimble back with quick feet. He is a physical runner who likes to lower his shoulder and finish his runs. He is also a terrific receiver coming out of the backfield. He displays soft hands. He doesn’t have a lot of tread on his tires. Based on his film, he should be a first round pick. He also should be the first RB off the board in the 2021 NFL Draft.
