WR Quartney Davis (Texas A&M) Senior Bowl Interview

Quartney Davis

Wide Receiver / Texas A&M

Alex Khvatov:  How would you describe this Senior Bowl experience?  What do you want to show this week?

Quartney Davis:  It is an honor to be able to come out here and compete against the best guys in their conferences.  I want to show that no matter who I play and what I play, I better beat those guys.

Alex Khvatov:  What has your head coach Jimbo Fisher brought to the Aggies?  What was the biggest lesson that you took away from them?

Quartney Davis:  They taught me what football really was.  The toughness part of it.  Having grit and pride.  Doing your job and being on time.  A lot of football knowledge.  Being able to read coverages and understanding concepts.  Before they got there, I really didn’t understand those things.  They did a great job teaching it to us.  That coaching staff will do some great things at A&M.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at Texas A&M?

Quartney Davis:  I was down the road at Houston.  I wanted to stay close to my family, so they can come and watch me play.  It was a pretty easy decision.  At first, I was pretty skeptical of going there.  It worked out for the best.  I was happy with my decision.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you decide to enter the NFL Draft after your junior year?

Quartney Davis:  I was ready to compete at the highest level.  I was ready to learn what it was like to play for an NFL team.  I wanted to learn from the NFL coaches.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Quartney Davis:  A receiver that can do it all.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Quartney Davis:  I can always improve on routes and catching.  Hand fighting and press releases.  Improve on just being a better receiver.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Quartney Davis:  At EXOS in Pensacola.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Quartney Davis:  Seven OT game versus LSU.  It was definitely exciting.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the best corner that you have faced during your career?

Quartney Davis:  Best defensive back was #13 from Auburn – Javaris Davis.  He is a really smart guy.  He is super-fast.  It was a good battle going against him.

Alex Khvatov:  How does your track and field background help you on the football field?

Quartney Davis:  Whether it is press or off coverage, I will challenge the DB vertically.  I get in and out of my cuts really well.  It helps me being fast.

Alex Khvatov:  What one word best describes you?

Quartney Davis:  Fearless.
