2023 Senior Bowl Watchlist Scouting Notes: WR Jonathan Mingo, Ole Miss

Jonathan Mingo is very much in the build of Deebo Samuel, albeit a bigger Deebo, but similar in traits and skills either way. Mingo’s usage was much of the same of Deebo’s in college, stretching the field vertically with his route-running prowess and speed to get downfield and crafting manufactured touches moving from sideline to sideline trying to get him in space. Mingo will be a much more productive pro than he was in college.

Jonathan Mingo scouting notes

Pros:

  • Good speed, but might be a step slow to be very good. Should run around a 4.5-4.6 forty.
  • Accelerates very well.
  • Smart route runner. Very nuanced with his route-running ability.
  • Very often wins at the release, especially on a deep ball.
  • Flashes the ability to secure catches through brutal contact.
  • Good deep threat.
  • Excellent run after the catch ability – shows solid contact balance to break tackles in the open field and gain additional yards.
  • Strong run blocker on the perimeter. Does a good job locking down boundary defenders.

Cons:

  • Struggles with consistency. Struggled with concentration drops.
  • Broke his foot in practice preparing for Alabama in 2021. Has overall struggled to stay healthy.
