2023 Senior Bowl Scouting Notes: Dorian Williams, Tulane

Dorian Williams probably best fits in a half-field scheme where he is allowed a specific assignment and can chase that down with relative ease. Williams is an exciting linebacker prospect who has flashed great ability at times, but the question with him will be whether he is a strong enough athlete to hold up to everything that he needs to.

Dorian Williams scouting notes

Pros:

  • Good speed overall. Very solid athlete.
  • Shows good lateral quickness.
  • Solid upper body strength.
  • Good wrap-up tackler.
  • Solid blitzer when he can get to the gap clean. Disrupts passing lanes with ease.
  • Shows good play recognition. Doesn’t overreact to shifts or motion.
  • Instincts are good on some plays. Late to react at times.

Cons:

  • Pursuit angles could be better inside of the box.
  • Doesn’t offer a lot of pass-rush ability outside of his blitzing timing. Won’t get off any blocks.
  • He struggles to close in on the ball carrier efficiently.
