2023 Senior Bowl Scouting Notes: LB Aubrey Miller Jr, Jackson State

A transfer from Missouri. Aubrey Miller Jr is a spot linebacker who comes off of the field for the nickel package. He’s a vicious, downhill-attacking linebacker with brutal physicality and someone who is a stout run defender. Miller’s skillset appears to be best suited in situations, as his coverage ability is a bit of a liability for an NFL team. Regardless, he has the skillset and athleticism to be a solid pro.

Aubrey Miller Jr scouting notes

Pros:

  • Has good speed for the position. Athleticism pops on tape.
  • Very strong upper body.
  • Shows some explosive ability. Should test well at the Combine/Pro Day.
  • Vicious at the point of contact. Nasty tackling form, clean but absolutely vicious. Old school headhunter.
  • Good pursuit angles inside of the box.
  • Times his blitzes up well. Hits gaps at the perfect time as protection is sorting out the look.
  • Shows solid play recognition.

Cons:

  • If he isn’t getting through clean, he’s not getting off of a block to get into the backfield.
  • Very average in zone coverage.
  • Was taken off of the field for the Tigers nickel package and didn’t play the majority of most games. Doesn’t look like he has the skillet to be a starter in a nickel package.
