2023 Senior Bowl Scouting Notes: WR Ronnie Bell, Michigan

Ronnie Bell is an exciting prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft with some great athletic ability and explosion. He’s a little bit smaller and maybe not as fast as some of the guys ahead of him in this class, but he has a good chance to make an impact on an NFL roster regardless with his football IQ, which is reportedly very high.

Ronnie Bell scouting notes

Pros:

  • Decent speed from Bell who can make things happen after the catch. I don’t think he’s a top-level speedster but he will be effective.
  • Flashes some real explosiveness.
  • Good footwork allows him to be effective and smooth in and out of the break. Works well through physicality through the route, slips through zone coverage assignments as well.
  • Understands some of the deeper nuances to route-running and turning defensive backs to gain leverage.
  • Flashes an excellent catch radius. Does a good job of protecting the catch point when he can, using his body as a shield to the football. Sticky hands, makes some incredible catches sometimes.

Cons:

  • Struggles to be a consistent receiver.
  • Don’t believe he’s necessarily dynamic after the catch. Has the athletic ability to be special but doesn’t stand out in those opportunities.
  • Injury history might leave some level of concern.
