Darrell Luter Jr has the tools to be a good cornerback in the NFL, and he has a lot of work before he is there. Some of his coverage skills are still raw as he could refine technique, but his speed and athleticism are capable at the NFL level. Luter loves the game, and his coaches rave about his passion. It’s evident when he plays, he has a solid motor and could be a very good developmental pick when we look back ten years from now on this class.

Darrell Luter Jr scouting notes
Pros:
- Decent speed, not great.
- Decent lateral quickness. Nothing great.
- Solid upper body strength. Shows the ability to work off of blocks on the boundary decently well.
- Shows decent change of direction ability.
- Tends to take good pursuit angles.
- Very quick to read and diagnose in zone coverage.
- Decent press coverage. Can lose his positioning on a good release.
Cons:
- Decent tackler. Needs to wrap up better, but will struggle until he puts more weight on his frame. Spends too much effort trying to get the ball out.
- I’m not impressed with his ability to work through traffic.
- Decent zone coverage ability. Just looks like he’s a step or two too slow to react. Struggles to work through traffic to stay on his assignment.
- Tends to be overaggressive in press.
