Isaiah McGuire shows a ton of potential as an NFL edge rusher, putting up the production this season at Missouri as a team captain and showing massive improvement. However, improvement means more than immediate success. McGuire is a stiff athlete who can’t bend under blocks by tackles. That requires him to finesse his way through, which sometimes he can do. Other times he is locked up. If he can develop some bend, at least some semblance of a dip, he can work open and become a good pass rusher in the NFL.

Isaiah McGuire scouting notes
Pros:
- Very solid athlete.
- Very solid lateral quickness, can move into the gap position very quickly.
- Excellent first step. Almost exclusively a gap defender.
- Fairly explosive athlete.
- Very strong upper body. Does a good job compressing the pocket.
- Has some brute to his game, showed the ability to bully guards inside off of stunts.
- Good strong hands.
- Solid wrap up tackler. Brings both force and drive at the point of contact.
- Flashes the ability to impact off the edge as a run defender both inside and out.
Cons:
- I don’t see a lot of bend ability but he can use his hands to finesse his way through. Very stiff athlete overall.
- Hand usage is fairly good, struggles the further he gets into the rep.
- Motor doesn’t stay consistently running through the play.
