A transfer from Florida State, James Blackman’s frame is that of a basketball player. He looks too lean for the game at a professional level. He just doesn’t have the ability to put weight on his frame. Blackman has suitable arm talent and can throw the ball well, the problem is his lack of accuracy and inconsistency in almost every other aspect of his game. Blackman should end up in a minor league, most likely the USFL, but has a chance to develop up.

James Blackman scouting notes
Pros:
- Very suitable arm talent. Pushes the ball well downfield. Looks solid doing it.
- Flashes some ability to throw with touch and timing.
- Average downfield runner.
Cons:
- Accuracy is very spotty.
- Struggles with consistency with his placement.
- Bad pocket positioning. Struggles to get into the proper spot, very inconsistent. Leads him to face a lot of unnecessary pressure.
- Does not maneuver the pocket well at all. Struggles to avoid blitzers or pass rushers who work free. Doesn’t work himself to space effectively.
- Does not throw well off platform. Has the mobility to create and extend plays but not as a passer.
