Jaren Hall has been the successor of Zach Wilson, the second overall selection of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he’s played very well for BYU, making a professional prospect of himself. He has a solid arm, he’s a capable athlete, and has flashed the ability to place the ball into incredibly tight windows. His Senior Bowl performance was dismal and it looks like he lost a lot of his momentum with a poor all-star game performance.

How much upside is really in Jaren Hall’s game? Clearly, there is a lot for him to work on. Will he get there? Does he have the work ethic to get there? Those are the questions surrounding him. He has footwork to clean up, but are his feet going to be fast enough? He has processing issues, can he handle the mental side of the game properly? There are a lot of question marks with no real answers to him ever developing.
Suffered concussions that sidelined him during the 2019 season. In 2020, Hall did not play with a hip injury. Suffered a right ankle injury in the end of the 2022 season while playing through cracked ribs. Missed a lot of time and will probably have bad medicals at the Combine.
Jaren Hall’s scouting report
Quarterback Ability (65)
Arm Talent: 20
- Arm Strength (8/10) – Excellent arm strength. Hall does a great job pushing the ball downfield. Doesn’t throw well through pressure consistently.
- Touch Ability (3.5/5) – Throws with some excellent touch. Has a beautiful deep touch ball that he can touch into the breadbasket.
- Release (2/5) – Windup takes a long time while going deep. Release point is low and struggles to throw over the offensive line.
Accuracy/Placement: 25
- Accuracy (9/15) – Accuracy is fairly consistent, certainly better than most quarterbacks in college football. Still struggles to throw accurately and on target while under pressure.
- Placement/Vision (6/10) – Placement at times flashes extraordinary. Has the ability to put the ball into tight windows. Needs to just be more consistent overall. Struggles with consistency badly.
Pocket Presence: 10
- Pocket Positioning (2/5) – Doesn’t have good footwork through his drop. Struggles to get where he needs to effectively.
- Pocket Maneuverability (3/5) – So composed when moving around the pocket. Can move to space at times but took some egregious sacks.
Footwork: 10
- Consistency (1.5/5) – Does not have consistent feet. Feet and drop are stiff.
- Quickness (2/5) – Lazy feet. Tries to take smaller steps to speed up his drop and it doesn’t help.
Athleticism (20)
Mobility: 12
- Outside of the pocket (4/7) – Throws well outside of the pocket and while on the move. Does struggle to consistently launch the ball from a good angle.
- Downfield Ability (3.5/5) – Very capable runner himself. Athletic and strong. Capable scrambler to gash defenses for modest gains.
Improvability: 8
- Natural Improvability (3/4) – Good improv prospect. Made some silly plays at BYU.
- Play Extension (2/4) – I personally don’t see a lot of play extension ability from Hall at all. Doesn’t move well to extend plays but rather wants to move to create issues.
Intelligence (15)
Football IQ/Field Vision: 10
- Football Intelligence (2.5/5) – Has the tendency of staring down receivers. Too hesitant to get through reads. Afraid to pull the trigger at times.
- Ability to read pre-snap (2.5/5) – Average ability to read pre-snap. See’s things at times but will try to force plays at the wrong times.
Overall: (59.5) – UDFA
