Paris Johnson Jr was the bookend left tackle for the Ohio State Buckeyes, that protected CJ Stroud’s blindside over the last two years. Johnson was a heralded offensive tackle prospect coming out of high school and didn’t disappoint at Ohio State, not missing a single game while serving as a starter. Johnson isn’t by any stretch of the imagination a star as soon as he steps on the field, but if he develops properly, he’s going to be.

There’s some upside to Paris Johnson’s game, and it’s mostly with his hand work. Yes, he can build his upper body a little bit better, but if Johnson can learn to better use his hands, he’s going to be able to hold his blocks better and be able to be a much more effective player at the next level than he’s going to be when he enters.
No real injury history. Didn’t miss any games in college.
Paris Johnson Jr scouting notes
Athletic Ability (40)
Athleticism: 20 –
- Speed (8.5/10) – Very decent speed for an offensive lineman. Good quickness gets him downfield quickly to impact the second level. Looks like he could be an effective puller.
- Lateral Quickness (7/10) – Shows decent lateral quickness but can struggle to change directions.
Strength/Power: 20 –
- Upper Body Strength (4/7) – Average upper body strength. Just doesn’t stand out to me in this area. Part of the reason he struggles to maintain his leverage is his lack of an upper body build. Has room to expand on it.
- Lower Body Strength (6/7) – Very stout lower body. Doesn’t really have any room left to expand on this area of his game. Very stout and flashes some decent explosion, especially when springing into action downfield.
- Brute Power (2/6) – Not at all a brute, will have to be a technician.
Lineman Technique (45)
Anchor/Plant: 10 –
- Anchor Strength (4/5) – Has a good anchor, holds up pretty well. Shows decent flexibility and bend in his anchor.
- Plant Recovery (2.5/5) – Does not show a lot of recoverability. Struggles in those situations. When he can maintain his leverage and chop his feet, he can hold up, but it’s difficult for Johnson to hold his leverage.
Hand Usage: 15 –
- Hand Placement (5/7) – Hand placement is mostly consistent but can surrender big plays against stronger finesse rushers. Very susceptible to inside counters and being set up to surrender that leverage there.
- Hand Strength (3/5) – Hand strength isn’t great. Struggles to hold his blocks and maintain his leverage.
- Technique (2/3) – Hand technique isn’t polished. Capable of holding up but tends to lose focus after a bit of the rep and surrenders positioning and leverage to a good counter.
Pass Block: 10 –
- Strength (4.5/5) – Excellent strength in pass protection. Gets very low and leans well.
- Consistency (3/5) – Tends to overset as a pass blocker and gets killed by inside counters.
Run Block: 10 –
- Strength (4/5) – Shows good run strength, getting downhill properly.
- Consistency (3.5/5) – Fairly consistent as a run blocker off of the snap. Struggles to hold blocks effectively.
Persona (15)
Football IQ: 10 –
- College Transition (4/5) – Fairly pro-style scheme with his assignments and the way they designed protection. Shouldn’t be too much of a college to pro transition.
- Understanding of Assignments (4/5) – Seems to pick up on some assignments and stunts, doesn’t always pass off assignments well.
