Alex Khvatov:  Where will you be training for the NFL Draft?

Malik Brown:  PLEX training facility & a little at my alma mater high school here and there.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall experience at the FCS Bowl all-star game in Daytona Beach, FL.

Malik Brown:  It was a great experience with high level talent and lots of competition.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest thing that you will take away from that weekend?

Malik Brown:  Really made me realize that I can compete at a high level with high level players.  Being able to network and show my talent on a stage in front of pro ccouts.

Alex Khvatov:  Who was the best player that you have faced at the FCS Bowl?

Malik Brown:  Maurice Thomas, the slot the receiver was the best competition to me.  He was a solid player.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Malik Brown:  Out of high school I played quarterback, so I was recruited as an athlete.  Prairie View, Tarleton St, Texas Southern, Sam Houston St and lots of junior college schools.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Tarleton State?

Malik Brown:  They showed the most interest in me and they offered me a full scholarship.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you transfer to Henderson State?

Malik Brown:  After losing my best friend in a car accident and having to deal with it, I felt I needed a new start and coach Maxfield and Henderson State wanted me to be a part of their program.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Malik Brown:  Very smart and very athletic.  I’m very coachable and I’m not shy about being a leader.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Malik Brown:  Having excellent man coverage and just growing as a player mentally and physically.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career.

Malik Brown:  Felt as if my career was pretty consistent, with injury my freshman year.  I felt as if my sophomore through senior years were pretty consistent, and I made game changing plays throughout my whole career.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Malik Brown:  Being able to transition from quarterback to safety and not miss a beat.  To excel and to be able to help my team win games over the years.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?

Malik Brown:  Seeing my leadership rub off on the younger guys, seeing people look up to me and actually impacting and changing the level of play from my teammates.  Seeing them grow based off of what I helped them improve on.

Alex Khvatov:  What have you learned the most from your coaching staff?

Malik Brown:  Just trust the process and remain humble throughout everything and whatever is meant to be, will be regardless of the situation.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Malik Brown:  Houston Texans, most definitely!

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Malik Brown:  Tom Brady is currently my favorite player just because he expects greatness and nothing less.  But my favorite all-time player has to be Mike Vick.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a DB?

Malik Brown:  Having a short memory and being able to move on and refocus after every play.  You’ll get beat eventually, but you can’t let that effect how you play for the rest of the game.  And extreme focus and preparation.

Alex Khvatov:  Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that
you are looking for from the offense?

Malik Brown:  After watching film, I usually develop tendencies from that.  But body language is another big key for me.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Malik Brown:  Kahlil Mitchell a transfer from ETSU, a very solid linebacker.  CJ Jones, a cornerback and Southern Oregon transfer & Doug Johnson, a receiver and Texas Tech transfer.  All good guys and great players entering their senior year.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Malik Brown:  Jalen Tolliver from UAM, he plays receiver for the Arizona Cardinals now.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Malik Brown:  The way it brings people from different backgrounds tighter and basically turns into a family.  The grind and the grit and just being able to be myself and express myself through my game and ability.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your biggest role model and why?

Malik Brown:  My mom honestly, just because throughout my whole career people have come and gone, but she’s been there and haven’t left and have supported me right or wrong.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your definition of a leader?

Malik Brown:  Some people describe a leader as someone who is the best player and always has team speeches, but a leader is someone who does the things right when no one is watching.  A leader is someone who has off the field qualities that resemble leadership, as well someone who pushes others to be great and a person who people automatically look up to.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Malik Brown:  If I’m not training or working out, I’m usually spending time with my family, playing basketball, playing video games and just staying to myself.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Malik Brown:  I want to get into coaching at either the college or high school level.

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?

Malik Brown:  Tough, smart, athletic, determined and optimistic.

Alex Khvatov:  Who will win Super Bowl LIII in February?

Malik Brown:  Fingers crossed, but I’m hoping the Texans!
