East Report – Day 2 (Tuesday Practice)

By: Alex Khvatov

WR Terry Godwin (Georgia) – had another big day on Tuesday.  He has been able to create consistent separation.  He catches the ball away from his body, displays tremendous speed and quickness in and out of his breaks.  He has made tough catches in traffic.

WR Jamal Custis (Syracuse) – has great size, large hands and a huge catching radius.  He snatches the ball out of mid-air.  He excels on go routes, shows outstanding hand/eye coordination and catches the ball well over his shoulder.

C Lamont Gaillard (Georgia) – quick, undersized C who excels at getting out to the second level.  He plays with good knee bend, quick feet and shows tremendous hand placement.  He fits best in a zone blocking scheme.

DT Kevin Wilkins (Rutgers) – a versatile DL who looked unstoppable in the one on one’s.  He is an athletic DT who has displayed quickness, good leverage and good hand usage.

DT Chris Slayton (Syracuse) – has good size and great strength.  He is athletic with a quick first step.  He displays outstanding power at the point of attack.

LB Ulysees Gilbert III (Akron) – an athletic LB with great speed.  He displays good instincts and made a couple of plays behind the line of scrimmage against the run.  He also broke up a pass against the TE in coverage during the scrimmage portion.

CB Derrick Baity Jr. (Kentucky) – was the most consistent corner for the East squad.  He has great length, long arms and good speed.  He is at his best in off man coverage, but he was physical with receivers during practice.  He broke up a couple of passes during the one on one’s, but dropped an INT that hit him right in the bread basket.
