Drew Daniel
Defensive Back
Wagner

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Drew Daniel:  5’9, 181 pounds and 4.52.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Drew Daniel:  I am currently in Tampa, FL at D1 Training.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall experience at the FCS Bowl in Daytona Beach, FL.

Drew Daniel:  The FCS Bowl was one of a kind.  We were able to show our skills.  I played against great athletes and met coaches.  You had the chance to develop your game.  It was also another chance to play football.  I had fun.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Drew Daniel:  I went to a prestigious Pope John high school in New Jersey.  I drew a lot of big interest from VA Tech, Delaware and Rutgers.  I lacked size and didn’t have 4.3 or 4.4 speed.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Marist College?

Drew Daniel:  I chose Marist because of the academics.  It was a prestigious school.  It was also a chance to play at the FCS school.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you transfer to Wagner for your final season?

Drew Daniel:  I accomplished many things at Marist, but I felt like I had to go somewhere else.  I wanted the ability to adapt to a new system and a new environment.  I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and develop more as a player and as a person.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Drew Daniel:  Definitely my quickness, knowledge of the game and explosiveness.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Drew Daniel:  Improve my speed and my eyes as a DB.  Eyes tell you everything.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall career.

Drew Daniel:  At Marist, we had average seasons, but it was a good experience.  I was able to play D-I football.  I gained many relationships.  I will be able to utilize it in my everyday life.  I had two season ending injuries during my career.  You are battling mentally and physically to come back.  But it tests you and makes you a better person.  Going to Wagner, it was an unbelievable experience.  I was embraced by everyone with open arms.  I played a little at corner, then I got moved to safety at Wagner.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Drew Daniel:  Being able to gain and develop relationships from friends to coaches.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?

Drew Daniel:  The ability to persevere through two season ending injuries.  I have a different type of mindset.  I am able to persevere through a difficult situation.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a DB?

Drew Daniel:  Knowledge of the game.  Look at Richard Sherman.  You see how much he studies and watches film.  He came back from an Achilles injury.  He reads and understands the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Drew Daniel:  New York Jets.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Drew Daniel:  At corner, Marcus Peters.  At safety, Quandre Diggs.

Alex Khvatov:  Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the offense?

Drew Daniel:  As a corner, I am looking at the WR’s stance.  Where does his shoulder lean and how he is lined up.  Looking at the QB, I see what pre-snap checks that he is doing.  At safety, I am also looking at the QB.  I am looking at O-line, their stance and their hands.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?

Drew Daniel:  WR Joshua Decambre is 6’4.  He is a big body.  He dominated every corner that we played this year.  Safety Ahmad Lyons and another safety Javeon Ensley.

Drew Daniel:  QB Chris Robison from FAU.
