Alex Khvatov: What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Darius Wade: 6’0 ½, 224 and N/A on the forty time.
Alex Khvatov: When is your Pro Day? What do you hope to show the scouts on that day?
Darius Wade: My pro day is on March 23rd at Bowling Green. I plan to show of my athleticism as well as my arm talent. Prove to scouts that I have the ability to make all of the throws and am a polished thrower.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Darius Wade: I am currently training at the school as I am working towards completing my second masters here at Bowling Green.
Alex Khvatov: Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?
Darius Wade: Out of high school, I received offers from: Boston College, University of Delaware, Pitt, NC State, Syracuse, Nebraska, Indiana, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Rutgers, and Temple
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at Boston College?
Darius Wade: I chose Boston College because it made the most sense for the criteria, I created for choosing a school. The top three things I looked at were education, conference, and playing time. BC checked off all of my boxes and felt like the best place for me to continue to grow as a player and a man.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you decide to transfer to Delaware? What happened there?
Darius Wade: My career at Boston College was coming to an end, and I saw the writing on the wall that the staff was going to go with the younger QB. Unfortunately, as a QB if you do not start, you do not play. I decided to transfer back home to the University of Delaware to be with family as well as play at a familiar place. Unfortunately, I sustained an injury at UD that did not allow me to participate during that season.
Alex Khvatov: Why did you transfer to Bowling Green for your final season?
Darius Wade: I was in a situation where I did not want to give up on my dream of playing football. BG and their entire staff believed in me and wanted to give me that chance. Also with the new head coach being my old OC and with a lot of BC and Delaware connections, it felt like home.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths?
Darius Wade: I am a player who is highly competitive. I will always give a 110%. I am coachable and will never put myself in compromising situations that could lead to off the field issues. I am knowledgeable, a leader, and experienced.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Darius Wade: Even though I am a leader, I know that I still need to continue to improve in this area. I also need to continue to be proactive through training and recovery to become more durable. Lastly, I must continue to improve on the finer details to increase my consistency which allow me to be an even more efficient passer.
Alex Khvatov: How would you sum up your overall career?
Darius Wade: My career was one that included a lot of adversity throughout, but regardless of my circumstances I never gave up. I continued to push myself to keep moving forward and help my teams however I could.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Darius Wade: Coming off the bench my last season at Boston College and managing to lead a come from behind victory over Lamar Jackson’s Louisville Cardinals.
Alex Khvatov: What is your biggest accomplishment in college that you are most proud of?
Darius Wade: Achieving academic all-conference awards at Boston College, University of Delaware, and Bowling Green. I’m proud that I could prove that I was more than just an athlete.
Alex Khvatov: What is the most important trait for a QB?
Darius Wade: Dependability. As a quarterback, you are an on the field the extension of the head coach. You’re also expected to be the person capable of overcoming the odds and winning games for you team. It is vital that any quarterback should be dependability.
Alex Khvatov: What is your favorite NFL team?
Darius Wade: Go Birds! I have been an Eagles fan from birth.
Alex Khvatov: Who is your favorite NFL player?
Darius Wade: My favorite player was Mike Vick. He revolutionized the game with his style and ability. Being an African American quarterback, I could relate to him and being a lefty such as myself, I always rooted for his success.
Alex Khvatov: Before the ball is snapped, what are the tendencies that you are looking for from the defense?
Darius Wade: Before each snap, I always give a general scan to pick up on anything out of the ordinary. The main indicator is safeties and any form of rotation. As well as d-line alignment, which could give away a stunt or blitz.
Alex Khvatov: What players on your team should we keep an eye on for next season?
Darius Wade: Jerry McBride (safety), as well as Andrew Clair (RB) are very talented players that will make a splash in the MAC next season.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?
Darius Wade: The best player that I have faced on the offensive side would either be Deshaun Watson or Lamar Jackson. On the defensive side, it would either be Jalen Ramsey or Bradley Chubb.
Alex Khvatov: What do you enjoy most about football?
Darius Wade: The ability to compete. A s well as the camaraderie that you develop and share with your teammates.
Alex Khvatov: What are your hobbies?
Darius Wade: I enjoy fishing, reading, riding my motorcycle, flying planes, and playing video games.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
Darius Wade: My ultimate goal is to own my own business. However, before that I would like to serve my country in the Air Force.
Alex Khvatov: What five words best describe you?
Darius Wade: Tough, confident, smart, goofy and unique.
