Defensive Tackle / University of Charleston

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Kenny Randall:  I am 6’2, 320, and I ran a 5.0 recently for the Lions and the Eagles.

Alex Khvatov:  How are you currently preparing for the 2020 season with no offseason training?

Kenny Randall:  I bought resistance bands.  I have some free weights.  I was working out at a gym, which was open all the time.

Alex Khvatov:  Besides football, what other sports did you play in high school?

Kenny Randall:  I loved playing basketball.  I also did track.

Alex Khvatov:  What positions did you play in high school?

Kenny Randall:  I played LT and DT.  During my junior year, I played FB a couple of games.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Kenny Randall:  I committed to Temple out of high school.  My SAT scores weren’t up to par.  Temple dropped the scholarship.  I had gone to the Milford Academy in New Brunswick, NJ.  Two months after I left the academy, Charleston offered me.

Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at the University of Charleston?

Kenny Randall:  It was my only offer.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell us about your overall career.

Kenny Randall:  I got to Charleston in the 2015-2016 season.  I dressed the first year.  I was into the party life, and my grades slipped.  It took a while for me to see the bigger picture.  I got dismissed.  I was at home for two months.  I was working at Sam’s Club.  I went back to Charleston.  I changed my whole attitude.  I went from 1.3 to 2.5 GPA.  I was going to the tutors.  I made second team and first team all-conference.  I was a Cliff Harris Award finalist.

Alex Khvatov:  What can we expect from the University of Charleston this upcoming season?

Kenny Randall:  We lost a couple of key players for sure.  But we were putting in the grind before Covid-19 happened.  We have a solid team.  I will be that senior leader on the team.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Kenny Randall:  I play the nose guard.  I bring power.  It is my number one aspect.  My get off and dog mentality.  I am a vicious person on the field.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Kenny Randall:  I need to work on being quicker off the ball and building my pass rush.  I have been working on it through various drills.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Kenny Randall:  I never thought that I would be first all-conference.  Also being named for the Cliff Harris Award.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the biggest lesson that you have taken away from your coaching staff?

Kenny Randall:  Don’t procrastinate.  Accountability is everything.  I come thirty minutes before practice or meetings, and I am the last one to leave.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Kenny Randall:  Growing up, I liked the Colts and Peyton Manning.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Kenny Randall:  I was talking to my coach and he mentioned that I remind him of Ndamokung Suh.  I study him.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on for this upcoming season?

Kenny Randall:  RB Tyreik McAllister and LB Keon Freeman will be a sophomore this year.  He is a great athlete.  LB Michael Perry does things by the book and he has an amazing football IQ.

Kenny Randall:  Center from Shepherd, Jaime Colon a couple of years ago.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a DL?

Kenny Randall:  Reaction.  Being to be able to react quickly off the ball.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Kenny Randall:  All of my brothers that I sweat with every day.  I also like to manhandle and throw people around.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Kenny Randall:  I like to work out a lot.  I also like playing Call of Duty at home.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?
