Hank Bachmeier became a favorite of mine in his first ever game, the opening week of the 2019 season against Florida State. He displayed grit, determination, and a lot more maturity than a freshman should have had on the road in a hostile environment. Boise State went home with the win. Overall, he’s physically limited and will have to rely on his processing to make it at the next level.

QB Hank Bachmeier scouting notes
Pros:
- Has the ability to throw with touch or velocity. Typically pretty good about gauging which one to use on a throw.
- His release is fairly quick, and should be above average in the NFL. Is capable of manipulating release angles around traffic – very natural doing so.
- When he is on, he is on. He needs to be on consistently. Really does a great job placing the ball overall, among the better players I’ve seen in this class.
- Good footwork throughout the drop and through the release. Shows a solid base to work with.
- Good quick feet. Does tend to cross step while dropping back.
- Moves well outside of the pocket and can throw well on the move, too.
- Last season, Hank Bachmeier suffered through a 10% drop rate and still completed 62.4% of his passes.
Cons:
- Lacks a lot of arm strength. Doesn’t have the ability to be able to push the ball very far downfield. Can throw with good velocity +/- 25 yards. Struggles to throw the ball without a platform. Arm strength is unusually suspect.
- Struggles with accuracy, especially when pushing the ball downfield. Flashes the ability to really throw well into the seams and on the move.
- Pocket movement would be average at best at the NFL level.
- Has a tendency to pre-snap read and make quick decisions based on his pre-snap read. This leads to potential issues, obviously.
