Bo Nix Scouting Notes
Pros:
- Has some velocity to drive the football. Flashes some special arm talent but was very seldom asked to use it at Auburn.
- Throws very well and with great velocity on the move.
- Throws from multiple release angles effectively.
- Has the strength to shake off tackles and keep the play alive. Very stout. Throws very well on the move.
- Excellent downfield runner. Strong, instinctive, shows good field vision. Very strong upper body to shed tackles. See’s the field well and runs extremely well to space.
- No doubt that Bo Nix is an incredible improvisor. This might be the best part of his game. Throws very well on the move. Makes things happen with his natural feel for the game.
Cons:
- Deep ball seems to really lack drive. Arm strength drops off beyond 20 yards.
- Shows some touch ability but is very inconsistent. Has done a much better job in 2021 with throwing the ball with touch and knowing when to do that. Still an issue with consistency, but there is marked improvement.
- Awkward release motion, really puts a lot of his lower hips into the throw and elongates it.
- Accuracy is so spotty and inconsistent that it’s painful to watch. When he hits the deep ball, though, it’s on a rope.
- Not great throwing out of the shotgun on a quick throw, which is probably why his accuracy is so spotty. Platform looks very wide.
