A transfer from Clemson, Chaz Mellusi entered Wisconsin in 2021 as the starting running back before an injury derailed the last quarter of his season. In that span of time, he lost the starting job to Braelon Allen and has settled back into a backup role. Mellusi appears to be a rotational back in the NFL at best, utilized on first and second downs, not being much of a receiver but offering suitable running ability between the tackles and pass protection pickups.

Chez Mellusi scouting notes
Pros:
- Flashes some good speed.
- Excellent cutback ability. Not just a one-cut back either, can use the move multiple times. Changes well in more minor directions as well.
- He has a good variety of moves to make defenders miss. Works through the moves very well.
- Shows some special run power. Bullies in traffic. However, needs to be better about stepping over defenders and getting high knees to keep the easy trip-ups from preventing him from running.
- He is a patient runner, I really like his running style.
- Has good hands to be utilized as a receiver.
- Has some serious power for a guy his size. Picks up his assignment well.
Cons:
- Takes him a second to get up to speed, but by the time he gets to the hole, he’s explosive.
- He doesn’t seem to always understand where defenders will move to.
- Not particularly well balanced through contact but tends to fall forward.
- Doesn’t run a lot of routes, but Mellusi runs a lot of underneath concepts and check downs well.
