Bowling Green has produced tight ends out of their program in recent memory, last year putting out Quinton Morris who went to the Senior Bowl and displayed his talents on the highest stage. This year, Bowling Green has Christian Sims who was oftentimes relied upon as their top receiver. While he’s not much of a blocker, it’s safe to assume that as a professional he won’t be asked to do it much due to his size. He’s of the mold of recent “tight ends” in Irv Smith Jr and Isaiah Likely – undersized to play inline effectively but much stronger playing out of the slot as a big receiver. Sims isn’t on either of their level, at least not yet, but has potential left to grow into.

Christian Sims scouting notes
Pros:
- Good speed overall for the position.
- Can change direction decently well.
- Decent body control. Shows the habit of getting two feet inbounds on catches.
- Flashes solid burst. Has some explosiveness to his game.
- Shows a good catch radius.
- Shows the ability to make catches through traffic. Keeps his concentration pretty well.
Cons:
- Doesn’t have a very strong upper body.
- Hands could be better. Struggles with hand strength – doesn’t often corral the ball cleanly.
- Struggles with concentration drops. Doesn’t have strong hands and when he’s not looking the ball in, he’s not going to make the catch.
- Not a great run blocker. Surrenders a lot of space and it easily overpowered. Struggles to get on his assignment even in a double team.
- Tends to go too high as a run blocker and loses his control.
