Tyler Davis is an intriguing NFL prospect because of the flashes that he puts on tape – which are immensely talented and remarkably instinctive. The biggest problem with his evaluation is the inconsistencies and where his weaknesses are. There’s no doubt that Davis was a great college player who can find success on an NFL roster – but he needs a lot of dudes around him to get him his one-on-one opportunities and can create havoc for him to work into.

Tyler Davis scouting notes
Pros:
- Good athlete for the position.
- Moves laterally well and was a big part of Clemson’s stunt packages.
- Fairly explosive athlete.
- Good, strong hands to swipe when he needs to and create a ton of separation.
- Good tackler. Solid range too. Does a great job making tackles across the board.
- Excellent range for a defensive tackle. Pursues very well.
- Did a good job showing instincts at times. Was mostly inconsistent.
- Fairly consistent pass rusher, but I think a lot of that is attributed to his 1v1 opportunities that Brent Venables was able to generate consistently while at Clemson.
Cons:
- I just don’t see the upper body strength I want to from Davis.
- Didn’t draw double teams often due to the nature of the Clemson scheme, but was a handful 1v1.
- Struggles with double teams.
- Active hands but needs some coaching on how to better use them.
- Recognition was inconsistent.
- Has missed time in both 2020 and 2021 with injuries.
