2023 Senior Bowl Scouting Notes: TE Cameron Latu, Alabama

Cameron Latu was mostly used as an inline tight end who was a blocker but offered possession-receiving abilities at Alabama. He’s developed tremendously over the 2021 season as a receiver. While he missed a lot of 2022 with nagging injuries, Latu has shown what he is capable of at the next level, and that’s probably as a long term tight end two on a roster that heavily utilizes 12 personnel.

Cameron Latu scouting notes

Pros:

  • Latu changes direction well in small increments. Won’t switch the direction that he’s running, but can make minor adjustments work well.
  • Very physical player.
  • Latu has really come on this season as a possession-type receiver.
  • Flashes the ability to catch through contact. Really become strong in this area in 2021.
  • Shows a good ability to get downhill and consistently run block.

Cons:

  • Doesn’t have good speed. Barely adequate for the NFL level.
  • Didn’t run a complex route tree at Alabama.
  • Not a strong pass blocker.
  • Missed the first few games of 2022 with an injury sustained in camp.
