A transfer from Miami (FL). Moved from defensive end to tight end in 2020 before moving back to outside linebacker in 2021. Made Bruce Feldman’s freaks list this year (#4) after posting a blazing 22.88 MPH on the GPS, while also boasting a 455-pound bench press and 655-pound sumo deadlift. Had a huge showing in Oregon’s Spring game with 5 TFL and 4 sacks. He is a true two way player who can fit into that Hasaan Reddick role that is about to become popular across the NFL.

DJ Johnson scouting notes
Pros:
- Ridiculous athlete. Has posted ridiculous numbers and is a gym rat. Very quick feet.
- Offers good lateral quickness. Does a good job of shifting quickly to attack a gap.
- Very good body control.
- Good explosive athlete.
- Good upper body strength.
- Balance looks good, stays upright well and isn’t knocked off his platform too often.
- Does have some heavy hands and can win with a big swipe.
- Shows some very solid instincts. Has a good understanding of offensive concepts and can pick up on plays quickly.
- Very capable zone coverage prospect. Works well to keep the play in front of him and has a good understanding of offensive concepts because of his background on offense.
Cons:
- Looks a little bit stiff as an athlete. Won’t be able to bend under a blocker, instead will have to finesse his way around.
- Very raw with his hands. Doesn’t have the intensity he needs to attack throughout the rep.
- Really needs to clean up his tackling technique.
- Doesn’t work through traffic very well.
- Motor is typically pretty good, but not consistent. Looks like he runs out of gas sometimes.
