Kayshon Boutte was utilized in a variety of different way at LSU, but doesn’t appear to have the skillset to carry it over to the next level. There are certain traits that Boutte has that stand out and look great. There are others that will hold him back from being great. One of the biggest concerns that I have with him, personally, is that I don’t think his hands are consistent enough to be a very effective receiver. While he’s flashed extraordinary abilities with the ball in his hand, they sporadic and very few-and-far-between. That concerns me greatly as a pro prospect.

Kayshon Boutte scouting notes
Pros:
- Good, not great speed.
- Solid body control. Twists and turns well.
- Fairly explosive.
- Good footwork through his routes. Does a great job at the top of his route.
- Gets two feet inbounds consistently while working the sideline.
- Catches well through traffic. Shows solid work getting positioning and being intense enough at the catch point.
- Offers suitable run-after-the-catch ability. Flashes extraordinary. He doesn’t have much strength or creativity, which makes him not so effective on reverse actions.
Cons:
- Good, not great, hands. Certainly has the capability to make big time catches but isn’t nearly consistent enough in that category.
- His own worst enemy – when he gets in his own head, he struggles badly with concentration drops. Had two against Florida State. Too inconsistent.
- Has missed a lot of time with injury.
