Adrian Martinez was the chosen one by Scott Frost and heavily recruited as Frost took the Nebraska job in 2018. Martinez was the starter from the moment he stepped on campus. Staying healthy has been an issue for him, as he has yet to start a full season entering 2022, but he compiled 38 starts in the meantime. Kansas State has revived a dying career for Martinez, putting him into positions to succeed and show NFL teams what he can do.

Adrian Martinez scouting notes
Pros:
- Adrian Martinez flashes some extraordinary arm talent. Can throw from crazy angles and deliver the ball well without being set.
- He can throw with some excellent touch.
- His release is very quick and smooth. Release motion is quick and somewhat sidearms, much like Zach Wilson.
- He positions himself well in the pocket but isn’t as comfortable as you’d like to see him when settling.
- Moves well in the pocket. Likes to tuck and run quickly but works well moving to space.
- Very strong downfield running ability, especially for a quarterback. I think he’s too quick to decide to tuck and run. Very fast. 75-yard touchdown run in a key point against Illinois (2021) to help change the momentum.
- Martinez is among the best in the country right now at improv. When the play breaks down, he has a very natural feel for how to react and what to do.
Cons:
- Inconsistent accuracy is an issue. Shows some good mechanics but can’t finish it with accurate throws.
- Placement is so inconsistent.
- Footwork is very inconsistent. I think part of his accuracy issue comes from his inconsistent plant angles. He struggles to set up correctly for his throw with stepping into it.
- Shows good mobility outside of the pocket but doesn’t throw nearly as well while moving.
