Aaron Williams
Safety
Nebraska

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Aaron Williams:  5’10, 186 and I haven’t run the forty time yet.

Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?

Aaron Williams:  At Landow Performance in Denver, Colorado.  I am getting ready for my pro day on March 7th.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in
you?

Aaron Williams:  I am from Atlanta, Georgia.  I had a lot of offers from SEC and ACC.  I had four SEC offers and five ACC offers.  Kansas State and Nebraska were my only Midwest offers.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Nebraska?

Aaron Williams:  I decided to give Nebraska a shot.  I went there during my junior year to look at the facilities.  My family and I liked the environment and the family-oriented vibe from coach Bo Pelini’s staff.  That led us to an official visit during my senior year.  The game day atmosphere blew us away.  I already formed a great relationship with the coaching staff.

Alex Khvatov:  How honored were you to get an invitation from the Tropical all-star game?

Aaron Williams:  I was really honored.  Not every college athlete has an opportunity to play at an all-star game.  You get to show your abilities in front of other top tier athletes and in front of scouts.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Aaron Williams:  I am a physical DB.  I can play multiple positions in the secondary.  I started at safety and nickel back.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?

Aaron Williams:  Improve my overall game.  I am focusing on becoming a better overall person and player.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your overall career.

Aaron Williams:  Freshman year, I started at safety and was a backup at nickel.  My career was a roller coaster ride because of the coaching changes.  It benefited me because I learned something different from each coaching staff.  I started at safety the first game of the season against BYU.  I started four games as a safety and transitioned to nickel later on the season.  I started at nickel in the bowl game against UCLA.  Sophomore year, I started the whole year at safety and nickel.  During my junior year, we went to a 3-4 defense and we utilized nickel 10% of the time.  It was not a big emphasis placed on that position.  I played safety that year.  During my senior year, we had another coaching change.  We utilized the nickel more.  I played in the nickel and at safety.

Alex Khvatov:  How has Scott Frost changed the culture at Nebraska this year?

Aaron Williams:  Scott Frost brought energy.  He revamped the program.  He is holding players more accountable.  The players are enjoying the game of football again.  Coach Frost has to keep rebuilding the strength program.  Everybody can see the change because we finished games better at the end of the season.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Aaron Williams:  My pick six against Wisconsin my junior year.  It was my only pick six of my career.  It brought a big change to the game.  It brought the team hope.  It gave us a new sense of pride.  The crowd went crazy.  It was the play of my career.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Aaron Williams:  I root for the Falcons.  I grew up watching them when Warrick Dunn and Michael Vick played.  Enjoy watching the game in general and see different teams compete.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Aaron Williams:  I have liked Tyrann Mathieu since his college days.  I compare myself to him.  The adversity he went through, his stature and size.  He brings so much energy to the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait for a DB?

Aaron Williams:  Discipline.  One false step can get you beat.  Body movement and eyes have to be in the right place.

Alex Khvatov:  What players on your team should we keep an eye on next season?

Aaron Williams:  #10 WR JD Spielman is a slot WR.  He is very shifty.  He is a gamer.  He has gotten better every year.  #7 LB Mohamed Barry has the passion and the drive.  Just watch him play.  He lives the right way.  He carries himself the right way.  #21 CB Lamar Jackson #21 had his best season last year.  He has another level that he can take it to next year.  #23 CB Dicaprio Bootle has a small stature.  He has an aggressive demeanor and swagger.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is the best player that you have faced on an opposing team?

Aaron Williams:  Last year, it was #4 Rondale Moore.  He was a freshman.  He is very shifty and elusive.  It was had to cover him.  Everything that they said about him held true when I played him.  He is also a humble dude.  It was actually one of my best games of the season.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?

Aaron Williams:  I love the grind of it.  It is an escape zone from reality.  It just brings me relaxation.  I love the game.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your definition of a leader?

Aaron Williams:  A person who carries himself the right way and helps and motivates other people.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Aaron Williams:  Bowling, playing spades, watching movies, go-karting and riding four wheelers.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Aaron Williams:  I want to get into coaching and make an impact on kids’ lives. I want to coach at the high school level or at recreational level.

Alex Khvatov:  What five words best describe you?
